The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, received the Vice President of the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba, Mercedes López Acea at the Flagstaff House.
During the meeting, the Ghanaian Vice-President addressed the support that Cuba provided to the national liberation struggle in the continent, and highlighted the excellent state of bilateral relations.
The Vice President of the Council of State, Mercedes López Acea, also member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), and first Secretary of the Provincial Committee of Havana, was received at the seat of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), by its acting National President, Mr. Freddie Blay.
The Cuban Vice President, López Acea, and her delegation paid tribute to Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, outstanding Pan-African leader, strategist of the national independence, and the first President of the Republic of Ghana.
The Cuban Vice President placed a wreath before the statue of Dr. Nkrumah. Subsequently, he toured the Museum that perpetuates the life and work of one of the founders of the Organization for African Unity (OAU), today the African Union (AU).
The Vice President of the Council of State of Cuba, Mercedes López Acea, met with the workers' group of the Cuban Diplomatic Mission and with members of the Cuban Medical Brigade (BMC) who work in the Ghanaian territory.
During the exchange with the Vice President, the head of the Cuban Medical Mission, Dr. Ana Lubín García, explained the working conditions of the volunteers, who work in five of the ten regions of Ghana: Greater Accra, Eastern, Volta, Northern and Upper East.

The Cuban Vice President, who makes an official visit to the Republic of Ghana, acknowledged the expressions of affection received since her arrival, reiterating Cuba's commitment to that brother and supportive people. She also thanked the support of the Ghanaian people in the historic battle for the lifting of the blockade.
