Presidents of Cuba and Rwanda held meeting on the sidelines of Summit G-77 in Havana.

Havana. Within the framework of the Summit of the Group of 77 plus China held in Cuba, His Excellency Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda, was received by his Cuban counterpart Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.

 

During the official exchange between both leaders, they evaluated the historical relations between both nations and expressed political will to work to promote bilateral cooperation.

 

Cuba and Rwanda established diplomatic relations in February 1979, so they will be celebrating the 45th Anniversary next year 2024.

Havana. Within the framework of the Summit of the Group of 77 plus China held in Cuba, His Excellency Évariste Ndayishimiye, President of the Republic of Burundi, was received by his Cuban counterpart Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.

 

At the Palace of the Revolution, after an official reception, they held a meeting that allowed them to review the state of bilateral relations and the potential for cooperation between both nations.

 

Cuba and Burundi established diplomatic relations in February 1974, so they will be celebrating the 50th Anniversary next year 2024.

New meeting with Ugandan student leaders.

Kampala. On the morning of September 7, the Cuban Ambassador Tania Pérez held a new meeting with members of the national leadership of the Uganda National Students Association (UNSA) led by Alfred Ocen, in charge of International Relations of the Organization.

 

The exchange allowed for the discussion of upcoming bilateral work projects between the Ugandan student organization and its Cuban counterparts.

 

UNSA and the University Student Federation and the High School Students  Federation established exchange relations in 2022.

Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba hosts to Secretary General of the ruling party of Burundi.

Havana. As part of the official visit programme, on September 5, the Honorable Reverien Ndikuriyo, Secretary General of the ruling party of the Republic of Burundi, National Council for the Defense of Democracy - Forces for the Defense of Democracy (CNDD-FDD) was received by Ambassador Emilio Lozada, Head of the Department of International Relations of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba.

 

STATEMENT BY THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS

Cuba counters human trafficking operations aimed for military recruitment purposes.

The Ministry of the Interior has detected and it is working to neutralize and dismantle a human trafficking network that operates from Russia in order to incorporate Cuban citizens living there and even some living in Cuba, into the military forces that participate in military operations in Ukraine. Attempts of this nature have been neutralized and criminal proceedings have been initiated against those involved in these activities.
