Harare, April 17, 2026 – Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel-Bermúdez sent a congratulatory message to Zimbabwean President Emmerson D. Mnangagwa on the occasion of the African nation's Independence Day, April 18, 1980.

 

"On the occasion of the 46th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Zimbabwe, I extend our warmest congratulations," the message from the Head of State of the Caribbean island states.

The Herald Zimbabwe praises Cuba’s commitment to its sovereignty

Harare, March 25, 2026 - Cuba's decision to defend its sovereignty in the face of the tightened US blockade was highlighted on Wednesday by Zimbabwe's leading newspaper, The Herald, after analyzing recent statements made by that nation's Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodriguez.

Cuba will not waver in its commitment to defending its independence and sovereignty despite constant external pressure, Rodriguez stated at the 10th Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) held in Colombia.
