Cambodia, Cuba set to enhance co-op in health sector: Vandine

Cambodia and Cuba have agreed to further strengthen and foster health cooperation between the two countries, as well as collaborate on training medical human resources in 2023, following a visit to the island nation by one of the Kingdom’s top health officials. Ministry of Health secretary of state Or Vandine paid a formal visit to Cuba from December 11-19 to strengthen cooperation under the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed on September 24 between the health ministries of the two nations.

Cuba and Cambodia boost medical cooperation

The willingness of the Cuban Government to strengthen medical collaboration with the Kingdom of Cambodia was ratified by meeting between José Angel Portal Miranda, Cuban Minister of Public Health, and Or Vandine, Secretary of State of the Cambodian Ministry of Health. Ms. Vandine said she was glad to be in the Island to learn about its health care system and conveyed her government’s appreciation that Cambodian students can become doctors in Cuba’s medical schools, in line with her country’s intention to expand this service as based on the Cuban experience.

ICAP president winds up in Cambodia tour of Asian nations

Fernando Gonzalez, president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), on Monday wound up in Phnom Penh on a tour of Asian nations that previously took him to Laos and Vietnam. On his second and last day in this capital, Cheam Yeap, first vice president of the Cambodian Parliament, received Gonzalez, who is a lawmaker at the National People’s Power Assembly (ANPP) in Cuba. Yeap reiterated his country’s willingness to strengthen ties in all spheres with Cuba.

Lecture “Cuba-Cambodia relations” by Cuban Ambassador in Phnom Penh

The Institute for International Studies and Public Policy was honored to host a Public Lecture with the presence of H.E. Ms. Liurka Rodríguez Barrios, Ambassador of Cuba to the Kingdom of Cambodia. The diplomat said that the intense bilateral activity of recent weeks is nothing more than the fruit of the seed cultivated by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and King Father Norodom Sihanouk, who cemented an intimate friendship and identified with the common cause for peace and progress.

Cuban president congratulates Cambodian King on Independence Day

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel congratulated Cambodia's King Norodom Sihamoni on the occasion of today's 69th anniversary of the national Declaration of Independence, after nearly a century of French domination. Diaz-Canel delivered the message through the Cuban ambassador here, Liurka Rodriguez, conveying to His Majesty the warmest congratulations on behalf of the Cuban people and government, accompanied by best wishes for the prosperity and welfare of the Cambodian people. The Cuban head of state also reiterated "the will to continue strengthening the ties of friendship and cooperation between our countries". For his part, the monarch Norodom Sihamoni thanked Díaz-Canel for his letter, which he described as warm, and praised the existing ties between the peoples of Cuba and Cambodia.
