Statement Rejecting the Escalation of the U.S. Economic War Against Cuba

The following is a Press Release by the Cuba Friendship Society in Dunedin.

Dunedin Cuba Friendship member Jen Olsen contacted Foreign Minister Winston Peters today and asked him to endorse a declaration made by the South Island Cuba Friendship Societies.

"The Declaration concerns the latest escalation by the United States of the blockade of Cuba" Jen said. "New Zealand has opposed the blockade in votes at the UN since 1995, along with the vast majority of UN member states".

New Zealand express solidarity with Cuba

Blackball – On the occasion of events held in this city to commemorate International Workers Day, friends of Cuba expressed their solidarity with the Island and their condemnation of the economic and commercial blockade of the United States.

As every year, the Ambassador of Cuba in New Zealand, Mario Alzugaray, took part in a seminar organized by activist Paul Maunder in the city of Blackball, birthplace of the Labor Party in this country.

Cuban diplomats join the launch of a Latin Mural in Wellington

Wellington, May 6th, 2019. Yesterday afternoon, officials of the Embassy of Cuba, headed by the Third Secretary Saimin Fis Abad, took part in the opening ceremony of the Latino Mural in the community of Newtown, which was attended by the Mayor of Wellington, Justin Lester.

Mayor of Wellington confirms support for Latin American and Spanish film Festival

Wellington. – In a meeting with the Ambassadors of GRULAC and Spain, the mayor of Wellington, Justin Lester, confirmed the support of the City Council for the 18th edition of the Latin America and Spain Film Festival (LASFF by its Spanish acronym).

LASFF is a non-profit cultural event that aims to promote Latin American and Spanish culture through its cinematographic production. This festival is presented in a dozen cities and enjoys a great reception throughout the country.
