Press Release: The Embargo remains in force after 17 December, 2014".

New York, 13 September 2016.During the period from April 2015 to April 2016, some progress has been achieved in the bilateral relations between the United States and Cuba; particularly significant are the reestablishment of diplomatic relations and the reopening of embassies, preceded by the fair exclusion of Cuba from the spurious list of States sponsoring terrorism, in which it never should have been included.

New York, 9 September 2016. On December 17, 2014, within the process of reestablishment of relations between Cuba and the United States, President Barack Obama acknowledged the failure of the traditional U.S. policy towards Cuba and promised to undertake a debate in Congress in order to lift the Embargo. Following this new approach, the President announced several executive measures aimed at modifying the implementation of some of its aspects.

New York, 29 August 2016.The economic, commercial and financial Embargo against Cuba remains in force. The restrictions imposed by this policy continue to be applied.

In spite of the measures adopted by President Barack Obama since December 17th, 2014 and his repeated calls on Congress to lift the blockade, the main laws and regulations supporting the Embargo against Cuba, continue to be in force and are being applied rigorously by U.S. government agencies, especially by the Departments of the Treasury and Commerce, and in particular by OFAC.

New York, 16 June 2017.Cuba acknowledged the worthiness of the draft of the Convention for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, which is under discussion within the framework of the UN Conference to Negotiate a Legally Binding Instrument to Prohibit Nuclear Weapons, Leading towards their Total Elimination, being held at the United Nations headquarters, in New York, and which will conclude next 7 July.

Press Release: Deputy Minister of Science Technology and Environment participates in collateral activities to the United Nations Ocean Conference.

New York, 6 June 2017. Accompanied by delegation members, the Cuban Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA), José Fidel Santana Nuñez, participated today in the reception organized at UN headquarters by the Permanent Representatives of the Pacific Small Island Developing States (PSIDS), on the occasion of the celebration of the United Nations Ocean Conference.
