Press Release/ 71 UNGA: "Cuba stands out the significance of the works of the Special Committee on the Charter of the United Nations."

New York, 11 October 2016. The Cuban delegate to the Sixth Committee, Tanieris Diéguez Lao, on Agenda item "Report of the Special Committee on the Charter of the United Nations and on the Strengthening of the Role of the Organization", underscored the importance for respect and promotion of the norms of the UN Charter, as well as, the preservation and strengthening of the leading role of the General Assembly, in its capacity of primary policy-making body, deliberation and representation of the United Nations.

Press Release/ 71 UNGA: “Cuba reiterates its unwavering commitment with International Humanitarian Law”.

New York, 10 October 2016. Cuba stressed today that the constant imperialist aggressions and the permanent interferences in the internal affairs of third world countries; the plundering of their wealth and the promotion of regional conflicts for economic and political benefits; the systematic destruction of these peoples’ infrastructures and indiscriminate slaughtering of innocent civilians are the main causes nowadays for the violation of International Humanitarian Law.

New York, 10 October 2016. “Cuba stands firm in its conviction that a key requirement towards the full realization of gender equality and empowerment of all women and girls is the achievement of a new equitable and just international order, ensuring the eradication of poverty and hunger, the end of armed conflicts, the value of human beings above capital and the preservation of the environment”, noted the Deputy Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations, Ambassador Ana Silvia Rodríguez Abascal, at the UN Third Committee on Agenda item: “Advancement of Women”.

Press Release/ 71 UNGA: “Cuba for better diplomatic and consular relations, to enhance security and comply with the Vienna Conventions and International Law.”

New York, 10 October 2016. At the Sixth Committee, under Agenda item: “Consideration of effective measures to enhance the protection, security and safety of diplomatic and consular missions and representatives”, the delegate of Cuba Rolando Vergara Zito, expressed the concerns of the Cuban delegation on the increasingly ongoing transgressions posed on the security of diplomatic Missions and diplomatic and consular representatives.
