Celebrations begin for the Centennial of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz (1926–2026)

Paris, 13 August 2025. The celebrations marking the centennial of the birth of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, begin this 13 August. His thought and actions remain deeply relevant to the ideals of independence, social justice, education, and culture championed by UNESCO. The commemorations will continue until 13 August 2026, when the 100th anniversary of his birth will be observed.

The deputies of the National Assembly of the People’s Power of the Republic of Cuba reject and denounce the U.S. Presidential Memorandum of June 30, 2025, which reaffirms the responsibility of the United States government in the tightening of the economic, commercial, and financial war, as a means to achieve its imperialist and colonialist goal of seizing control of Cuba.

Cuba shares its experience in IUCN panel on the potential of the Preliminary Assessment process for World Heritage nominations

Paris, 11 July 2025. In the framework of the 47th Session of the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO, the Cuban delegation took part in a panel organized by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), dedicated to discussing the potential of the Preliminary Assessment process for World Heritage nominations, which will become mandatory as of 2027.

Cuban Delegation Participates in Exchange on Climate Action Capacity Development Project for World Heritage

Within the framework of the 47th Session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, representatives of the Permanent Delegation of Cuba to UNESCO took part in a workshop with focal points of the “Capacity Development on Climate Action for World Heritage” project, an initiative funded by the Government of the Netherlands.
