Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba
Guyana, December 6, 2019. As MINREX warned in a statement released August 29, 2019, the United States government has, since last year, been waging an intense, offensive campaign against the medical collaboration Cuba provides, along with threats of sanctions against Cuban leaders and pressure on recipient states to end such cooperation.
Guyana, December 5, 2019. The most recent events in the region confirm that the US government and the reactionary oligarchies bear the primary responsibility for the dangerous unrest and political and social instability that broke out in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Georgetown, Guyana, November 23rd , 2019. The Embassy of Cuba to the Cooperative Republic of Guyana paid tribute to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz. There were present in the event solidarity friends, Cuban residents, cooperant aid of the medical brigade and education, as well as workers of the Embassy.
Guyana, Georgetown, November 20th . Delegation of the Ethnic Relations Commission pays a courtesy call to the Ambassador of Cuba to the Cooperative Republic of Guyana. During the meeting, the members of the delegation explained to the Cuban diplomat the mandate and tasks of the commission. The meeting took place in a friendly and cordial environment. Both sides agreed to maintain contacts and promote the exchange of information and experience between the two countries, in particular , those related to ethnic issues.

The President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, strongly condemned the coup in Bolivia on Sunday, stating on his Twitter account, “With a violent, cowardly coup the right wing has attacked democracy in Bolivia.“Our forceful condemnation of the coup and solidarity with brother President Evo Morales Ayma. The world must be mobilized to preserve the life and freedom of Evo,” he insisted.Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla likewise tweeted the ministry’s condemnation of the coup and expressed solidarity with Evo, leader and symbol of the demands for justice of the original peoples of Our America.The 701 members of the Cuban medical brigade in Bolivia are safe, with all necessary provisions, and are being kept informed of events in permanent communication with the mission’s leadership, stated Yoandra Muro, head of the brigade in that nation, speaking on Cuban television.On November 9, Cuba’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a declaration stating, “Disregarding electoral institutions and the people’s mandate expressed at the polls, sectors of the Bolivian opposition, with the support and leadership of the United States and regional oligarchies, have launched a coup with the aim of denying the Bolivian people the electoral result. The opposition coup strategy has led to severe violence across the country, which has cost lives, hundreds of wounded, and expressions of racism toward original peoples.”
