Next November 2nd and 3rd, the United Nations General Assembly will once again take into consideration the draft resolution calling for an end to the U.S. blockade against Cuba.

The U.S. government persists in ignoring the demands of the international community, and has intensified the blockade to unprecedented levels.

Cuba decrees official mourning for those killed in Matanzas fire

Havana, 18 August 2022. Cuba's national flag will be hoisted at half-mast in public buildings and military institutions from this Thursday, as part of the official mourning for those who died in the fire at the Matanzas Supertanker Base.

From 6:00 am this Thursday to 12:00 at night on Friday, this nationwide tribute to those who died in the control and extinction of the large-scale fire that affected the Industrial Zone of that western Cuban province from August 5 to 12 will be in force.

CARICOM statement on the disastrous fire in Matanzas, Cuba

August 8th, 2022.- The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) stands with government and people of Cuba in the aftermath of the disastrous fire at the Port of Matanzas.

We extend our condolences on the loss of life and wish a speedy recovery to the scores of people who were injured in this tragic accident brought on by an act of nature.

Cuba receives solidarity after accident in Matanzas

Havana, August 7, 2022.- The expressions of solidarity with Cuba continue after the fire of great proportions in two fuel tanks in the industrial zone of the province of Matanzas, east of the capital, the Foreign Ministry reported.

According to the source, messages from several nations express regret and support to the island in view of the tragedy that left so far more than 120 injured, one dead, while 17 people are missing.
