Barbados and Cuba host friendly football series.

Sponsored by the International Federation of Football Amateur (FIFA), the football teams of Barbados and Cuba made a friendly two-game series of preparation, on August 26 and 29, 2018. Cuban ambassador, Francisco Fernández, the head of the sports delegation, Miguel Fuentes Quiala, and the Barbadian directors who are members of the FIFA´s Caribbean chapter of FIFA participated as guests at the opening ceremony. Although the balance was favorable for the Cuban squad (with a 2-0 victory and a scoreless draw), the event served to measure the efficiency of both groups in the current stage of this Olympic cycle.

Cuban Wrestling expert teaches course in Barbados.

Professor Julio Mendieta, head of Cuban wrestling coaches, was invited by the World Union of Wrestling (UWW) to provide an international course in Barbados, from 28 August to 4 September 2018, which benefited the Caribbean coaches. At the opening ceremony, the Executive Director of the National Sports Council (CND), Mona Alleyne highlighted Cuban cooperation in the subregion, while the President of the Barbadian Wrestling Federation, Rollins Alleyne, said this opportunity will lead to a new stage in the incipient development of this discipline in his country.

Popular Ghanaian singer visits the Embassy of Cuba

The popular Ghanaian singer Amandzeba Nat Brew visited the Embassy of Cuba in Ghana. He was received by the First Secretary, Julio César Sánchez, and the Consular Officer, Eulalia Cárdenas San Martín.

The famous singer, who presented himself as an advocate of just causes, in July 2017 took part in the Mega Concert in solidarity with the people of Palestine, held at the National Theater of Accra.

Toronto celebrates Friendship Day with Cuba

Toronto, August 27, 2018. This Saturday, solidarity with Cuba in this city joined to celebrate the 23rd edition of the Toronto-Cuba Friendship Day, held at Toronto´s City Hall. The event was organized by the Canadian-Cuban Friendship Association in Toronto (CCFA-Toronto), the Association of Cuban Residents in Toronto "Juan Gualberto Gomez" and the Latin American and Caribbean Solidarity Network.
