Permanent Secretary of Education of Jamaica met with First Deputy Minister of Culture of Cuba

KINGSTON, JAMAICA, January 17, 2018.-  Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information of Jamaica, Deanroy Bernard, welcomed this Tuesday afternoon, January 16th, First Deputy Minister of Culture of Cuba, María Elena Salgado Cabrera, who carries out a work visit to this Caribbean island. 

During the cordial meeting at the venue of this ministry, both parts ratified the willingness of both governments to continue strengthening the bilateral ties and the efforts to increase the current cooperation.

UWI Cave Hill Professor exchanges cultural and academic experiences in Cuba.

Through various professional contacts with Cuban academic and cultural institutions, professor Rosana Herrero, from the Faculty of Humanities, UWI Cave Hill Campus, made an interesting working tour to Cuba between January 8 to 17, 2018, which it gives relevance to the Memorandum of Understanding that was signed by the rectors of Cave Hill Campus and the University of Havana last November 2017, during the opening session of the II Colloquium on the Legacy of Fidel Castro, in which she presented an exposition comprised by pieces of the Cuban painter Victor Mora.(Read more).

Dublin, January 16, 2018. Motivated to expand their knowledge about Cuba and the figure of Fidel Castro Ruz, a representation of students of the St Clares Comprehensive School, Manorhamilton, Co Leitrim, led by Professor Brendan Greene, visited the Embassy of Cuba in Ireland.

After appreciating a brief documentary about Cuba, the Ambassador offered an explanation about the national education system, documented with images and statistics of the different levels and types of education.

Dublin, January 15, 2018. The Cuban Ambassador to Ireland, Hugo René Ramos Milanes, paid a courtesy visit to Independent Deputy Maureen O Sullivan, who also serves as Vice President of the Joint Commission on Foreign Affairs, Trade and Defense of the Irish Chamber of Deputies and is also a member of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship with Cuba.

The meeting that took place in a fraternal environment, served to explore alternatives that contribute to the development of relations between Cuba and Ireland and particularly inter-parliamentary relations.
