Press Release: Cuba participates in the opening of the UN High-level political forum on sustainable development.

New York, 10 July 2017.The United Nations Organization inaugurated today the High-level political forum on sustainable development, convened under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), aimed at following-up to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals.

The main theme of the Forum is ‘Eradicating poverty and promoting prosperity in a changing world’.

Cuba seeks stronger ties with T&T in TIC 2017

T&T is one of Cuba’s major trading partners but there is still room for improvement, according to Hilda Rosa Santiesteban, president of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce.

“T&T has traditionally been Cuba’s second largest trading partner in the Caribbean,” Santiesteban said.

“Annual levels of trade have been between 35-55 million Cuban pesos annually, except for 2006 when it reached 67 million pesos.”

Santiesteban made the comment at a presentation on doing business in Cuba jointly hosted by exporTT and the Cuban Embassy at the Centre of Excellence, Macoya.

The seminar was held on the opening day of the Trade and Investment Convention (TIC) at the Centre of Excellence, Macoya.

 

Liberian Minister of Foreign Affairs Marjon Kamara takes the floor on program for the Day of the National Rebellion of Cuba.

With the presence of the Chancellor and other representatives of the Liberian Foreign Ministry, the Cuban Embassy in Liberia celebrated National Rebellion Day. They also participated in the activity the Minister of Defense, the Deputy Minister of Commerce, the Director General of the Institute of Foreign Affairs, Senator Conmamy B. Wesseh, members of the Cuba-Liberia Friendship Association, graduates in Cuba, as well as the selected youth who will start this year medical studies in Cuba and representatives of the country's press.

Cuba strengthens its commitment with disarmament, after the adoption of the Nuclear Weapons Ban Treaty

NEW YORK, 7 July 2017. Cuba defined today the adoption of the Nuclear Weapons Ban Treaty as a historic milestone, resulting from a multilateral discussion of over 70 years.

“The Treaty is a well-deserved tribute to all victims of the use or testing of nuclear weapons”, announced the Representative of Cuba, Ambassador Rodolfo Benítez Versón, while considering it a major step forward, within the imperative path towards nuclear disarmament.
