Work by Australian maestro to be performed at the National Theater of Cuba

Australian maestro Lee Bracegirdle

Canberra, 14 May 2024. On June 15, 2024, the National Concert Band of Cuba will present the work of the Australian maestro Lee Bracegirdle at the National Theater.

The maestro is a composer, conductor of symphony orchestras and professional French horn player; he has also maintained a close working relationship with Cuban orchestras since 2014.

The name of the work to be presented is "Legends of the Old Castle". It will be performed on a harp (soloist) accompanied by a wind and percussion orchestra.

Members of the Brisbane branch of the ACFS hold exhibition on Cuba

Canberra, 13 May 2024. Members of the Brisbane Branch of the Australia-Cuba Friendship Society (ACFS), Sue Monk and Lachlan Hurse gave a presentation on Cuba and international solidarity at a Vintage Reds meeting.

Vintage Reds gives unionists who have retired from full-time employment a place to be involved in campaigning using the skills acquired over a lifetime. Vintage Reds members aim to play an important role in supporting campaigns for worker’s rights, decent options for retirees, and the union movement more broadly.

“From Australia to Cuba with Love” Campaign: June 1 - July 26, 2024

Canberra, 13 May 2024. For the third consecutive time, the "From Australia to Cuba with Love" Campaign will be held from 1 June to 26 July 2024, under the coordination of the Australia-Cuba Friendship Society (ACFS).

As in previous editions, friends from all over Australia will travel, walk, run and dance to cover 14,886 km between the capitals of Canberra and Havana. This Campaign against the US blockade of Cuba also seeks to raise funds to donate to projects in Cuba.

Cuban ambassador participates in the Russian Victory Day activity

Sydney, 10 May 2024. The Cuban Ambassador Tanieris Diéguez participated in the activity for the 79th anniversary of Victory Day, sponsored by the Russian Embassy.

The ceremony was attended by members of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Australia.

The occasion allowed those present to enjoy different manifestations of the Russian culture.

Third Secretary participates in the reception on the European Union National Day

Canberra, 9 May 2024. The Third Secretary Ivianes Gonzalez participated in the reception on the occasion of the European Union National Day.

The Heads of Mission of all European Union countries accredited to Australia accompanied the Ambassador of the European Union during the exchange of toasts with the Chief of Protocol of the Australian Foreign Ministry.

The activity was widely attended by the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Canberra.
