Solidarity with Cuba Takes to the Streets of Vienna Once Again
Vienna, June 21, 2026 – The Austria-Cuba Friendship Association (ÖKG) held another day of solidarity with Cuba and against the blockade on the iconic Mariahilferstraße, one of the busiest thoroughfares in the Austrian capital. Activists from the Association took to the streets to inform passersby about the critical situation facing the island, at a time marked by the intensification of the U.S. embargo and the recent executive orders issued on January 29 and May 1, 2026.

Cuba Denounces the U.S. Blokcade to the CTBTO
Vienna, June 15, 2026. – Cuba denounced, before the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States for nearly 70 years, which was intensified by executive orders issued in January and May 2026.
Support for Cuba Grows in Austria
Carinthia, June 14, 2026 – Solidarity with Cuba continues to grow in Austria. In the state of Carinthia, the Austria-Cuba Friendship Association (ÖKG) held a “Solidarity Festival” yesterday that brought together more than 150 people. The event featured a special guest, Igor Jurisic, president of the Slovenian-Cuban Friendship Association, who traveled from the neighboring country to support the initiative.
Croatia–Cuba Interparliamentary Friendship Group Reaffirms Its Support for Cuba
Vienna, August 12, 2026.—Cuba’s Ambassador to Austria, Pablo Berti Oliva, held a virtual meeting with the Croatia–Cuba Interparliamentary Friendship Group.
During the exchange, the Cuban diplomat explained the current situation in Cuba to the Croatian lawmakers, placing special emphasis on the intensification of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States in 2026, as well as on the growing threats against the island.
