Ottawa, 22 August 2022. Tourism Counsellor Michel Bernal and Consul General Susana Malmierca paid a courtesy call on the Mayor of the City of Saint Sauver Jacques Gariépy. Annie Gouin, Director General of the Chamber of Commerce, Pierre Urguhat, Founder of the Authentic Cuban Fiesta in the city and former Director of the Chamber of Commerce, also took part in the convivial meeting.

 

Donation of medicines and medical supplies sent from Montreal by accident at Matanzas.

Ottawa, August 17, 2022. Everything is ready for the shipment to Cuba from Montreal of a donation of 512 kg of medicines and medical supplies to attend the people affected by the terrible accident in Matanzas.

Thanks to the mobilization of Cubans living in Montreal and friends of solidarity from different parts of Canada, it was possible to make the shipment, full of signs of constant support and concern about the evolution of the events in our country.

Cuba is grateful for the prompt response of Cubans living abroad and friends of solidarity in times of need.

The 96th birthday of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro was commemorated in Toronto.

On the eve of the 96th birthday of our Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, a simple but moving and heartfelt activity was held in Toronto to pay tribute to our eternal Fidel on his birthday. In addition, messages of solidarity were expressed for the accident in Matanzas and the attitude of the Cuban people and government was acknowledged.

The Cuban Embassy in Canada attended the XV Pan American Volleyball Cup.

The Cuban men's volleyball team swept their U.S. opponents in their third match during the XV Pan American Cup, held in Canada. This action positioned the Cuban team as undefeated in Group A of this event and took them straight to the semifinals. The game was attended by the Cuban Ambassador to Canada, Hector Igarza and several members of the mission's staff, who supported the performance of the Antilleans.
