Cuban Ambassador holds dialogue with Latvian Secretary of State

On this wednesday Ambassador of Cuba, Mrs Beatriz Parra had the great honor to have a virtual exchange with His Excellency Andzejs Vilumson, Secretary of State of Latvia, to whom she shared, on behalf of Cuba, the best wishes for success in his new duties. During the dialogue, the diplomat thanked Latvia for its historic support against the US embargo to Cuba as a European Union member State. Madam Ambassador mentioned in particular, the strong impact of the unfair inclusion of Cuba in the list of State sponsors of terrorism of the US State Departament.

During the official activities carried out in the Republic of Latvia, the Ambassador of Cuba, Beatriz Parra González, greeted President Edgars Rinkevičs, to whom she conveyed a New Year message on behalf of the people and Government of the Republic of Cuba. In the exchange, the Cuban diplomat shared her best wishes for the people and Government of Latvia in 2024, and the intention to continue strengthening bilateral ties. Cuba also participated in the celebrations for the 103rd Anniversary of the International Recognition of Latvia as a nation and took part in meetings with other authorities of the country -to whom she thanked for supporting Cuba against the US embargo- as well as events organized in the Parliament.

The Ambassador of Cuba to Latvia participated in the official activities for the 103 Anniversary of the International recognition of the Republic of Latvia. The Cuban diplomat shared greetings with the main authorities of the Foreign Ministry, starting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Krišjānis Kariņš, its Secretary of State, Andris Pelšs, the Under Secretary of State, Andžejs Viļumsons, and the officials of the Latin American and Caribbean area, headed by the director, Inga Krastiņa. The Ambassador took the opportunity to thank the distinguish authorities on behalf of Cuban people and Government for Latvia's support on the United Nations, against the US' embargo as well as the existing cooperation in various multilateral bodies.

Cuba reiterates the will to deepen bilateral relations with Latvia

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, sent congratulations to the President of Latvia, Edgar Rinkēvičs, through the social network Twitter. The Cuban Foreign Minister expressed "I extend my most sincere congratulations to former Foreign Minister @edgarsrinkevics for his election as President of the Republic of Latvia." And it meant "We ratify the will of #Cuba to continue developing the ties of friendship and cooperation between both nations."

The meeting organized by the Embassy of Spain in Latvia focused on issues on the CELAC-EU agenda. The Ambassador thanked Mr. Rinkēvičs for his kind words about his country and about Cuba's dialogue with the EU, in the framework of the forthcoming visit of Minister Josep Borrell to Havana.

Cuba strengthens its relations with Latvia

Cuban Ambassador Beatriz Parra presented this Friday the credentials to the President of the Republic of Latvia, Egils Levits, accrediting her as concurrent Head of Mission in Latvia whose authorities wish to cultivate friendly and beneficial relations with the Island. In statements to Prensa Latina, the ambassador based in Helsinki, Finland, commented that the stay in Riga was very positive, in particular her cordial meeting with the dignitary Levits, who was interested in Cuban news. In a conversation after the protocol ceremony, the diplomat explained to the head of state the negative effects generated by the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States government on the island. Likewise, they discussed bilateral ties, a subject in which both interlocutors agreed that they can be expanded.

Vice President of the Parliament of Latvia receives the Ambassador of Cuba

The Vice President of the Latvian Parliament, Dagmara Beitnere-Le Galla, received this Friday the Ambassador of Cuba, Beatriz Parra González, accredited in this capital from Finland. During the exchange, the Cuban diplomat shared information on national news, in particular on the impact of the US blockade on daily life and the upcoming legislative referendum to decide on the new Family Code.
