Cuban Ambassador exchanges with Canadian Foreign Minister

The Ambassador of Cuba, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, attended a reception hosted for the diplomatic corps accredited in Canada by the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anita Anand.

The Cuban diplomat was pleased to meet with the Minister again to thank her for the recent aid approved by the Canadian government for the island to address the damage caused by Hurricane Melissa.

Cuba and Canada share a long-standing relationship in numerous sectors, including political dialogue, trade, and cooperation.

Solidarity convoy from Montreal and Toronto heading to Cuba

As a result of joint efforts between friends in solidarity with Cuba and Cubans residing in Canada, two containers, one from Montreal and the other from Toronto, will arrive on the Island in the coming days.

The container from Montreal will arrive with furniture to support a project at a pediatric hospital, materials for a research center in Havana, and 230 boxes of medical supplies.

Honorable Senators and Members of Parliament:

It is a true privilege to address you. I would like to express my special gratitude to two friends, the co-chairs, Senator Judy White and Member of Parliament Gabriel St. Marie, for the invitation.

The vitality of Fidel's legacy in Canada

Between November 18 and December 2, Leima Martínez Freire, North America Director for the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), undertook a working visit to Canada, taking her to the cities of Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and Vancouver.

In Toronto, the ICAP North America Director participated in and spoke at a symposium held at the University of Toronto, marking the 50th anniversary of Operation Carlota. The event included the participation of intellectuals and friends of Cuba.

Vietnam ready to share digital transformation experience with Cuba in journalism

Vietnam stands ready to assist Cuba in promoting digital transformation in journalism activities, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association (VJA) Le Quoc Minh told Jorge Legañoa Alonso, President of Cuba’s Prensa Latina news agency. 

Minh, who is also Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, made the affirmation in a working session in Hanoi on December 2 with the Cuban delegation, affirming that Vietnam is willing to assist Cuba through training, experience sharing, and the transfer of software and digital newsroom management tools. The host highlighted the longstanding bond between the two countries’ press agencies – a relationship that has been strengthened across generations, including many Vietnamese journalists who studied in Cuba.

Vietnam congratulates Cuba on 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties

Vietnamese leaders on December 2 sent messages of congratulations to Cuban leaders on the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries (December 2, 1960–2025). 

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam extended his warm congratulations to Miguel Diaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and President of Cuba.
