Cuban Head of mission participates as jury of the Slum Pitch Festival of Monrovia.

Monrovia, May 31 2021 - Invited by the Angie Brooks International Center, the Cuban head of mission Mercedes L. Martínez Herrera participated as a judge in the Slum Pitch Festival in which 12 communities of the capital district of Montserrado took part.

Before the competition began, the Cuban diplomat spoke about the social integration of Cuban youth and the work of social workers in Cuba, a speech that was very well received by the young Liberians eager to learn about the Cuban reality.

Cuban Embassy in Monrovia receives visit of the Assistant Minister for American Affairs of the Liberian Foreign Ministry.

Monrovia, May 28, 2021 - In the morning hours our embassy received the visit of the Honorable Maxwell P. Vah, Assistant Minister for American Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Liberia, who was received by the head of the Cuban mission in this West African country, Mercedes L. Martínez Herrera.

The two diplomats had a pleasant exchange where they discussed issues of multilateral interest that require the attention of both countries.

Cuban radio station CMHW echoes the message of the head of the Cuban mission in Liberia for Africa Day.

Santa Clara, May 25, 2021 - The radio station CMHW of Villa Clara known as "La reina radial del Centro", echoed the message of the head of the Cuban mission in Liberia on the occasion of the celebration of "Africa Day".

The same happened in its digital version, where journalist Minoska Cadalso Navarro, based on this message, published an article entitled "Deep and indestructible relations between Cuba and Africa".

Cuban radio station Radio Rebelde broadcasts a congratulatory message from the head of the Cuban mission in Liberia for Africa Day.

Havana, May 25, 2021 - In its morning broadcast, Radio Rebelde transmitted a message from the head of the Cuban mission in Liberia Mercedes L. Martínez Herrera on the occasion of the celebration of Africa Day.

In her letter, the diplomat said that the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, was the main promoter and defender of the ties between Cuba and Africa, and indicated: "he felt a deep admiration for the African peoples, and was united by an intimate friendship with several of their leaders".

Liberian newspaper "Daily Observer" publishes interview with Cuban Head of Mission for "Africa Day".

Monrovia, May 24, 2021 - The printed edition of the "Daily Observer" newspaper, one of the most widely read, important and oldest in the West African country, published an interview with Cuban Head of Mission Mercedes L. Martínez Herrera on the occasion of the celebration of "Africa Day" on May 25.

The Liberian daily newspaper reproduced the words of the Cuban diplomat when referring to the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, as the main promoter and defender of the links between Cuba and Africa.

In the framework of "Africa Day", Cuba's Head of Mission in Liberia gives interview to Cuban radio station Radio Habana Cuba.

Monrovia, May 22, 2021 - In the framework of the day on the occasion of the celebration of "Africa Day", the head of the Cuban mission in Liberia, Mercedes L. Martinez Herrera, gave an interview to Cuban radio station Radio Habana Cuba.

In the interview, the Cuban diplomat stressed that, for Cuba, May 25 is like a date of its own due to the diverse links that unite it with Africa, which are the basis of a friendship based on deep cultural and historical roots.

  • The first woman of African origin president of the United Nations General Assembly. Angie E. Brooks.

Angie Elizabeth Brooks presided over the United Nations General Assembly from 1969-1970 during the twenty-fourth session, making her, so far, the only woman president of African origin of the Assembly. 

 

Chairperson of the African Union Commission acknowledges the role of Cuba in Africa

Addis Ababa, May 5 , 2021.  The Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AU), H.E. Mr. Moussa Faki Mahamat, received the Ambassadors of the member States of the Latin America and Caribbean Community (CELAC) accredited to the AU.

During the exchangb of views, the African leader acknowledges the role of Cuba in Africa whose "sons gave their blood in faraway countries of their geographic area".  He also expressed appreciation to the several medical brigades from Cuba fighting COVID-19 in African nations.
