Cuban expert representative participates in CEDAW session in Fiji.
The Committee on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) is holding working sessions in Fiji. Cuban representative Yamila González Ferrer is participating in the event as a member of the Committee. Upon her arrival in Suva, she was welcomed by Ambassador José Manuel Galego Montano and exchanged with the Cuban mission staff.
Prime Minister of Fiji attends activity for Cuban National Day.
The Embassy of Cuba in Fiji commemorated Cuban National Day and February 24 and was honored with the presence of the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Fiji, Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka.
The United States takes steps in the right direction, but the blockade remains in force.
On January 14, 2025, the government of the United States announced the following decisions:
1. Remove Cuba from the State Department list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism;
2. Make use of the presidential faculty to prevent US courts from taking action with regards to lawsuits that might be filed by virtue of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act; and
3. Eliminate the list of restricted Cuban entities that designates a group of institutions which US citizens and institutions are not allowed to make financial transactions with, which has had an impact on third countries.
Díaz-Canel convenes a Summit in Havana of the G-77 + China
Havana, June 14, 2023.- The President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, in his capacity as President Pro Tempore of the Group of the G-77 + China, convened a Summit of Heads of State and Government under the theme "Current development challenges: Role of Science, Technology and Innovation", on September 15 and 16, 2023, in Havana.
AIS Forum Organised the 7th Senior Official Meeting in Suva, Fiji, Called on the Urgency for Strong and Collaborative Actions within Nations through Innovation and Blue Economy
Suva, Fiji - Ambassador the Cuba HE José M. Galego participated in the Archipelagic and Island States (AIS) Forum conducted the 7th Senior Official Meeting (SOM) in Suva, Fiji, on June 7, 2023. The event was co-hosted by the Republic of Fiji, the Republic of Indonesia, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Indonesia, and the AIS Forum Secretariat. Held in the Grand Pacific Hotel, Suva, this is the seventh official meeting since the inception of the AIS Forum in 2018.
