Padura in Finland on the occasion of Ceisal 2022
On the occasion of the Ceisal 2022 Congress, the National Prize for Literature, Leonardo Padura, visited the city of Helsinki, at which time our Embassy accompanied part of his activities and had the opportunity to talk with him. During the reception at our headquarters of the creator of Mario Conde, and Lucía López, renowned writer and wife of the author, Ambassador Beatriz Parra González learned about the publishing projects that will soon bring to Finland his most renowned works, already in the editing process.
From Kotka a message of solidarity with Cuba
From this town, located 150 kilometers from the Finnish capital, a message of solidarity with Cuba was heard this Saturday. In a meeting with the delegates of the Suomen Kommunistinen Puoluen (SKP) - Communist Party of Finland - the Cuban Ambassador, Beatriz Parra González, shared updated information on the reality of Cuba, in particular the strategy to confront Covid-19 and the intensification of the blockade by the US against the Island, at times of maximum difficulties generated by the pandemic.
President of the UNESCO Chair makes an approach to Cuba from Finland
This Friday morning, the Cuban Ambassador, Beatriz Parra González, held an interesting exchange with the renowned scientist Pekka Neittaanmäki, professor at the University of Jyväskylä. In the dialogue, the Cuban diplomat presented some of the projects that Cuba promotes in the area of new technologies and the digital sphere, while highlighting the country's development in this sphere, despite the scope of the blockade in it.
Spanish ambassador receives his Cuban counterpart in Finland
This Thursday morning, the Ambassador of Spain in Finland, H.E. Luis Tejada received his Cuban counterpart, Beatriz Parra González, in a courtesy meeting, who shared current issues for the Island. In particular, she referred to the confrontation with Covid-19 and the impact of the blockade on the daily life of ordinary Cubans, intensified during the pandemic period, with the adoption of 240 more measures by the US Government.
“Summit of the Americas: Imperialist domination and exclusion”.
The US Government, abusing its privilege of being the host country, decided at a very early stage to exclude Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua from the 9th Summit of the Americas to be held in the city of Los Angeles this month of June. It has refused to attend to the just claims of many governments to change that discriminatory and unacceptable stand. There is no single reason that justifies the anti-democratic and arbitrary exclusion of any country of the hemisphere from this continental meeting, as warned by the Latin American and Caribbean nations at the 6th Summit held in Cartagena de Indias in 2012.
