The African Union condemns the continuation of the blockade against Cuba

Addis Ababa, February 7, 2021. For the twelfth consecutive time, the Assembly of the African Union, made up of the Heads of State and Government of Africa, approved the “Resolution on the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on the Republic of Cuba for the United States of America ”.

Cuba participated at Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting

Havana, 5 February 2021. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba, Manuel Marrero Cruz, participated via videoconferencing at the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, held in the city of Almaty in Kazakhstan. In his address to the Prime Ministers and other heads of delegation of the Member States of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), the Cuban Premier highlighted the importance Cuba attaches to its inclusion as an Observer State in the organization. He reaffirmed this affords an opportunity to expand the already brotherly relations with the members of the EEU.

Your Excellency Mister Askar Mamin, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan,
Your Excellencies Heads of Government and heads of delegations,
I thank Kazakhstan, which currently holds the chairmanship of the Eurasian Economic Union, for the invitation to participate in this meeting. I am confident that I will have the chance to attend future meetings in person, which was not possible this time due to the international epidemiological situation brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. We want to acknowledge the Eurasian Economic Commission for their work in the organization of this meeting, in particular the work carried out by its Board Chairman, Mijail Vladímirovich Miasnikovich.

Cuba deposited today the instrument of ratification of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty

New York, 4 February 2021. By signing and ratifying today the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT), Cuba reaffirms its commitment to nuclear disarmament and to the complete and effective ban on all nuclear tests, including nuclear explosions, subcritical tests and other sophisticated methods.
With this action Cuba reaffirms its condemnation of the proliferation of subcritical tests and the increase in expenses to improve such tests. It also supports the closure and dismantling of all facilities used for such purposes and their associated infrastructure.
