Farewell Activity to Guyanese students who will be trained as future doctors in Cuba

Georgetown. Guyana. Today, January 24th, 2023, an activity was held at the Cuban Embassy in Guyana to bid farewell to a group of Guyanese students who will be trained as future doctors in Cuba endorsed by the Guyana-Cuba Scholarship Program. Among them, there were two doctors who graduated in our country and have been awarded with  Master's Degrees in Hematology and Rheumatology respectively.

Georgetown, December 22, The President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana,  His Excellency Dr Irfaan Ali praised the valued connection between Guyana and Cuba at a reception honouring the 50th Anniversary of bilateral relations between the two countries on Thursday evening at the Pegasus Suites and Corporate Centre.

President Ali highlighted that Cuba has made “massive contributions” to the development of Guyana, especially in the health sector, through the training of thousands of healthcare workers.

December 8 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Caricom and Cuba.

At the 8th Summit of Caribbean states, our countries reaffirmed our friendship and solidarity with Cuba.

President of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canal, attended the Summit in Barbados at the end of a State Visit to that island-state. He previously was Guest of Honour in Grenada and St. Vincent.
