Fifth session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA)

Nairobi, 8th February, 2022- Hosted by the UN Environment Programme, the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) brings together representatives of the 193 Member States of the UN, businesses, civil society and other stakeholders to agree on policies to address the world’s most pressing environmental challenges.

The resumed fifth session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-5.2) takes place online and in Nairobi on 28 February – 2 March 2022.

60 years since the proclamation that formalized the criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade by the United States against Cuba

Declaration by the revolutionary government

The revolutionary government condemns the continuance for over 60 years of the economic, commercial and financial sanctions formally imposed by the United States on 3rd February 1962. On that date, the then president, John F. Kennedy, issued Proclamation 3447, “Embargo on All Trade with Cuba” under Section 620(a) of the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961. He thereby conferred official status on the unilateral economic hostilities already in effect against Cuba since our country’s revolutionary victory.

Cuban Ambassador in Nairobi presented Letters of Credence to UNEP and UN-Habitat

Nairobi, 2nd February, 2022- This morning, the Cuban Ambassador to Kenya, H.E Juan Manuel Rodríguez Vázquez, presented to the United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Director-General of the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON), Zainab Hawa Bangura, the Letters of Credence accrediting him as Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat).
 

The Electoral Constituency Commission in Kenya takes office

Nairobi, 28th January, 2022- In a simple but solemn ceremony, the Constituency Electoral Commission of the Cuban mission in Kenya, non-resident of Madagascar and Somalia, was established to participate in the process of popular consultation and referendum on the Code of Families.

In the act, took oath and held their positions, comrades Edisleydi Curbelo Garcia, Reynaldo Marrero Mendoza, Yrasema Moret Acosta y Erisbel Rodriguez Segura, president, secretary and members, respectively.
