International community condemns the blockade against Cuba again
New York, October 28, 2026. With 130 votes in favor, the United Nations General Assembly once again supported the Cuban resolution calling for an end to the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba. The result represents a new diplomatic victory for our country and confirms the broad and overwhelming rejection by the international community of a policy that, for decades, has tried to bend the sovereign will of the Cuban people.
When speaking before the General Assembly, Cuba's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, denounced the serious human consequences of the blockade, which limits the exercise of fundamental rights, affects third countries, and turns the population's essential needs into instruments of political coercion.
The Cuban Foreign Minister emphasized the effects of this policy and its consequences on the daily life of Cuban families, in a sick person's bed, in an operating room, in a child's meals and classroom. He warned about the international reach of the pressures and threats exerted by Washington, and posed a question that challenges all states: 'Today the pressure is directed against Cuba; against which state could it be used tomorrow?'
Cuban ambassador welcomes her congolese counterpart in Cyprus after presenting credentials
Nicosia, Cyprus, October 24, 2026 - The Cuban ambassador to Cyprus, Rubén Pino Martínez, congratulated and welcomed Her Excellency Ms. Michele Matadi Muleba, the new Non-Resident Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Cyprus, after she presented her Letters of Credence to the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, officially accrediting her as ambassador of the African nation, with residence in Athens.
Once the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Nicosia was convened, several ambassadors and representatives from the host island’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the newly arrived diplomat to the Cypriot capital. She promoted the presence at this welcome event of a large group of members of the Congolese community residing on the Mediterranean island.
The Cuban diplomat offered his congratulations, spoke with his newly arrived colleague about the historic ties of friendship and cooperation that unite Cuba and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and wished all kinds of success to H.E. Ms. Michele Matadi Muleba and her accompanying team.
Cuban Ambassador Participates in Open Day for United Nations Day in Cyprus.
Nicosia, Cyprus, October 24, 2026.- Invited by Mr. Khassim Diagne, Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP), the Cuban ambassador in Nicosia, Rubén Pino Martínez, attended the Open Day for United Nations Day in Cyprus, together with the diplomatic corps accredited in this capital.
The avenue where the Ledra Palace Hotel in Nicosia now stands, right on the Green Line that separates the two capital communities, hosted throughout the afternoon the UN family, civil society organizations, youth, students, community groups, and the public from all over Cyprus, under the motto “UN Cyprus: Working Together for Peace and Progress.”
A necessary day that promoted, from the everyday perspective and the own experiences of UNFICYP across the island, exchange, participation, and learning for the attending audience about the work carried out by colleagues from across the United Nations system on the island.
Cuba Present at the Congress of the Pan-Cypriot Council for Peace: reaffirm their condemnation of the ongoing U.S. blockade and threats against Cuba
Nicosia, Cyprus, October 17, 2026. The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Cyprus, Rubén Pino Martínez, participated this Saturday in the inaugural session of the Congress of the Pan-Cypriot Council for Peace (2026).
The event "is being held under intense and peculiar circumstances, both for the homeland and worldwide," commented Mr. Tasos Costeas, President of the Cyprus Peace Council, in his opening remarks.
Amid armed conflicts, where efforts to diversify energy sources are accelerating, with the rising prices of energy and food, and when the burdens on households and businesses are increasing globally; the current conflicts “highlight the strategic interest of the major economies, on the one hand, and their distance from international law, the protection of human rights, and peace on the other,” reflected Tasos Costeas.

Nicosia, Cyprus, October 16, 2026. – The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Cyprus, Rubén Pino Martínez, was received this Friday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, H.E. Ambassador Ms Theodora Constantinidou.
During the meeting, in which he was accompanied by Mr Haris Chrysostomou, Director of the Americas Department of the Cypriot Foreign Ministry, the Cuban diplomat provided a thorough update on the reinforcement of the economic strangulation policy, energy blockade, and excessive threats assumed by the United States government against the Caribbean nation. “Among the most dramatic consequences of this blockade policy,” Pino Martínez pointed out, “our nation today faces damages and costs exceeding 8,083,300,000 USD, just in the period from March 2025 to February 2026.”
When detailing to her the consequences of that hostile policy on all sectors of Cuban society, the Antillean diplomat shared with Mrs Constantinidou details from the report 'Need to End the Economic, Commercial, and Financial Blockade Imposed by the United States of America Against Cuba,' which will be presented to the United Nations General Assembly on October 27 and 28, as a repeated criticism before the international community.
