Nicosia Mayor Welcomes Cuban Ambassador to Cyprus
Nicosia, Cyprus, June 11, 2026. The Cuban ambassador to Cyprus, Rubén Pino Martínez, was received this Wednesday, the 10th, at the Nicosia City Hall by its top authority, Mr Charalambos Prountzos.
During the courtesy visit initiated by the Cuban diplomat, both authorities exchanged in a context of cordiality, respect, and friendship, reflecting the historic ties that unite both peoples, with shared intentions to establish new proposals for joint collaboration and continue building cultural bridges between Cyprus and Cuba.
Supported by the intense activity generated by the Nicosia City Hall in the socio-cultural field and with the agreement of the capital’s mayor, the Cuban diplomat expressed his full willingness to collaborate on projects, agreements, or cultural and other exchanges that could be coordinated between the two nations from this important city.
Cuban ambassador holds a fraternal meeting with a representative of the executive of the United Democratic Youth of Cyprus (EDON).
Nicosia, Cyprus, June 10, 2026. - The ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Cyprus, Rubén Pino Martínez, held a fraternal meeting this Wednesday with Angelos Dimitriou, member of the executive of the United Democratic Youth Organization (EDON) of Cyprus, with a view to Cuba's upcoming participation in the Panchipriota Festival of the aforementioned youth organization in the coming July.
During the exchange, initiatives to be carried out as a prelude to the aforementioned annual youth and student event were outlined, including the Colloquium dedicated to the centenary of the birth of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz and to the political and social evolution in Cuba and the international and economic challenges the country faces today, led by the Cuban diplomat. The meeting will take place at the Erodos Café-Restaurant in Nicosia on June 17th at 8:00 PM.

In the fraternal meeting, Ambassador Pino Martínez expressed his sincere gratitude to Metropolitan Isaiah for the support provided during the recent shipment of a fourth container to the Caribbean island, which departed from Cyprus on April 30, containing humanitarian aid intended for the Cuban people.
The meeting was an opportunity for Metropolitan Isaiah to recap the various events organized in previous years for fundraising for the aforementioned purposes; among them, the “Dinner of Love” held at the Episcopate, where attendees learnt about and tasted Antillean cuisine, enjoyed the joy, rhythms, dances, and the best exponents of Cuban music, and, with the funds raised, were able to contribute to that precious humanitarian aid destined for two pediatric hospitals and the Quisicuaba sociocultural project in the capital of all Cubans.

Cuban ambassador reaffirms the condemnation of the U.S. blockade against the island alongside Cubans residing there and supporters of the largest of the Antilles
Limassol, Cyprus, June 7, 2026 – The Cuban ambassador to Cyprus, Rubén Pino Martínez, reiterated this Sunday the condemnation of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. on the Caribbean island for more than six decades, a stance shared with Cubans residing in Cyprus and local friends and from other multiple nations present at the international event “Musical Footprints, a City for Everyone” in Limassol.
Considered the second largest city and the main tourist and commercial centre of the Mediterranean island, Limassol hosted last weekend hundreds of representatives from various communities and cultures living in different Cypriot cities, as an example of coexistence, respect, and solidarity among nations.
From there, the Cuban diplomat and the participating Antillean delegation infinitely thanked that space as a demonstration of solidarity with Cuba; they reminded that today more than ever Cuba needs the voice of friendly peoples, and they made an open and forceful denunciation of the policy of threats and energy blockade by the imperialist power against the Caribbean island, a message that received spontaneous expressions of support and accompaniment from many of the attendees toward the participating Cuban delegation.
Cuban ambassador participates in the inauguration of sculptural ensembles in honor of two great exponents of Cypriot culture
Nicosia, Cyprus, June 2, 2026.- The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Cyprus, Rubén Pino Martínez, participated this Tuesday in the inauguration of respective sculptural ensembles in honor of two great exponents of Cypriot music and poetry, Michalakis Giasemidis and Kostas Katsantonis, monuments unveiled in the Park of Poets and Spiritual Creators of Engomi, in this capital.
According to those present, a national and cultural debt has been fulfilled with both figures, whose works and memories enrich the musical and poetic dialectical legacy that Giasemidis and Katsantonis, respectively, sowed in the Cypriot idiosyncrasy, and which today mark and distinguish the cultural heritage of this Eastern Mediterranean island.
Officially inaugurated by the honorable Mr. Mario Hartsiotis, Commissioner of the Presidency of the Republic of Cyprus, the evening encompassed, with absolute institutional respect and that of the respective families, the enriching imprint of both figures on the national culture.
