Declaration adopted at the conclusion of the Sixth Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of CARICOM and Cuba

We, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Republic of Cuba, having met in Georgetown, Guyana, on June 14th, 2019, on the occasion of the Sixth CARICOM-Cuba Ministerial Meeting.

 Recalling the Summit Declarations of Havana 2002, Bridgetown 2005, Santiago de Cuba 2008, Port of Spain 2011, Havana 2014 and St. Mary’s 2017; as well as the periodic meetings of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of CARICOM and Cuba; and highlighting their indisputable contribution to the advancement of our political links and cooperation, materialized in the high level reached by the relations between our nations;

Recognizing the need to collectively address the challenges to sustainable development, including our vulnerabilities as Caribbean countries, especially in the economic and environmental areas, and in particular as Small Island and low-lying coastal Developing States, in order to build just, inclusive and equitable societies;

Kefalonia, June 15: A public event of solidarity with Cuba organized by the Cuban Heleno Friendship Association at Kefalonia and the Cuban Embassy was held in the labour centre of Kefalonia, Greek island in the Ionian Sea.
In the event, took the floor Yannis Kourouklis Association President and the Ambassador of Cuba in Greece Zelmys Maria Dominguez Cortina, who explained the current situation in Cuba, the social economic model update, the Cuban elections, the new Cuban Constitution, the history of the revolution in its 60th anniversary, the intensification of the unfair economic, commercial and financial blockade of USA against Cuba and Trump new measures against Cuba, among other topics of interest.

The "Cooperation Agreement between the Ministry of Construction of the Republic of Cuba and the Ministry of Housing and Lands of the Commonwealth of Dominica for the constructive recovery of Dominica" after the passage of Hurricane Maria, was signed June 14, 2018, one years ago.

Montreal, June 12, 2019.- Mrs. Elba Rosa Pérez Montoya, Cuban Minister of Science, Technology and the Environment (CITMA), attended the 25th Anniversary edition of the Conference of Montreal, held from June 10-13, in the Canadian city with the same name, under the theme “Embracing Change”.

The Conference of Montreal, which has been hosted by the International Forum of the Americas since 1995, is committed to heightening knowledge and awareness of the major issues concerning economic globalization, with a particular emphasis on the relations between the Americas and other continents.

The Association of the Friends of Cuba expresses its strongest rejection and protest against the Helms-Burton Act, whose chapter III has begun to be applied by the US government, a decision that constitutes a clear violation of all the norms and precepts of the law and international standards and the principles of the Charter of the United Nations Organization.
