The XIII Edition of the Biennial began in Havana

Pretoria, April 15, 2019.-  The XIII Biennial of Havana was officially inaugurated on Friday morning, an event sponsored by the National Council of Plastic Arts and the Wifredo Lam Contemporary Art Center.
Under the general theme "the Construction of the Possible" the present edition of the Biennial was presented by its organizers as a space for those typologies of contemporary art that understand creation as a "living event".

The blockade is strengthened: US sanctions British company for violating blockade on Cuba

New York, 15 April 2019. The United States announced that the Acteon Group, a British subsea service provider for the oil and gas industry, will have to pay 227,500 dollars for alleged violations of the blockade on Cuba.

As reported by the Department of the Treasury, its Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) reached an agreement for that amount with the company and several subsidiaries to 'settle the possible civil liability for seven apparent violations of the Cuban Assets Control Regulations (CACR).'

The United States fines British bank for violating blockade on Cuba.

New York, 14 April 2019. British bank Standard Chartered will pay 1.1 billion dollars for allegedly violating U.S. blockade on Cuba and sanctions against other countries, the US Treasury Department reported.

The London-based institution agreed to pay 947 million dollars to US entities, including 639 million to the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the Treasury department.

Cuba present at the Cultural Summit of Abu Dhabi 2019

The Executive Deputy Director of the National Ballet of Cuba, Redento Morejón, presided over the Cuban delegation at the Cultural Summit that was held in Abu Dhabi between April 7 and 11, 2019, which brought together more than 450 participants from 90 countries.

The representatives of the arts, heritage, the media, museums, public policies and technology, debated in seminars and panels to identify those formulas in which culture can build bridges and promote mutually beneficial cooperation.
