Cuba and the Cooperative Republic of Guyana will hold in Georgetown, the Second Round of Migratory Talks agreed to 10th and 11th April, as part of the exchanges held systematically on this matter between both countries.

The delegations of both countries will be headed by the Minister of Citizenship of Guyana Honorable Winston Felix and by the Director General of the Directorate of Consular and Cuban Affairs Resident Abroad, Hon. Mr. Ernesto Soberón Guzmán.

This meeting will be favorable to review the issues discussed in the first round of talks, in addition to pointing out aspects of mutual interest between both countries, as a way to guarantee legal, organized and safe immigration, combat trafficking and trafficking of persons, as well as physical integrity and respect for the human rights of travelers.

With the participation of the Director of International Relations of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce, Celia Labora, the Caribbean Network of Chambers of Commerce was established last week in Barbados. Executive Directors of sixteen (16) Chambers of Commerce across the Caribbean region gathered at the Accra Beach Resort and Spa in Barbados on April 1 and 2, 2019, for the Official Launch and First Meeting of the Network of Chambers of Commerce (CARICHAM). During the two day meeting, history was created with the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) establishing the Network.

Thye Mast, 4 April 2019. CUBAN President Miguel Diaz-Canel has told his Association of Caribbean States peers that the current situation of confrontation and threats will be overcome. He told the VIII Meeting of the Association of Caribbean States on Saturday in Managua, Nicaragua that “fragility and ferocity distinguish us” and that “fragility and ferocity unite us” and that unity made them stronger.

The Government of the Republic of Cuba is offering scholarships to eligible Saint Lucian nationals to pursue studies for the academic year 2019/2020 at the Undergraduate (Bachelor’s) and Postgraduate levels.  In the majority of cases, the scholarships offered aim to form professionals in the field of Medicine and Health Specialist.

And to do this, they signed a Memorandum of Understanding today that will see intensive research, cross cultural exchange and other collaborations of similar interests through workshops and projects over a four-year period. NICH and the Cuban Embassy in Belize held a short ceremony to establish the institutional cooperation agreement. Andrea Polanco was at today’s signing and tells us more in the following story.
