New York, 24 January 2018. The Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations, Ambassador Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo, held a working meeting with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. António Guterres.

The meeting focused on the upcoming thirty-seventh session of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), to be held in May 2018 in Havana. Various topics of international interest and multilateral scope were also addressed in a cordial and cooperative atmosphere.

The 27th edition of the International Book Fair of Havana , Cuba,  will take place from February 1 to 11, under the motto Leer es crecer (Reading is growing). The People's Republic of China will be the Guest of Honor Country. It will be dedicated to Dr. Eusebio Leal Spengler, Historian of the city of Havana. This event is the most important in the Cuban publishing sector and the most agglutinating cultural space in the country. Beyond being a place to buy books and exchange with authors, the Fair has become a stage to show, in its various facets, the dynamism of our cultural life.

Kuala Lumpur, January 24 – The deputy of home affairs Datuk Nur Jazlan bin Tan Sri Mohamed represented the government of Malaysia at the reception to mark the 59th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution.

Kuala Lumpur, January 24- The General Secretary of the Indian Congress of Malaysia (MIC), Dato A. Shakthivel, held a meeting with Cuban ambassador Ibete Fernández Hernández.

During the meeting, the parties discussed ways to strengthen relations between the MIC and the Communist Party of Cuba.

The Secretary General of the MIC spoke for promoting the exchange of delegations as a way to raise awareness among our countries.

Kuala Lumpur, January 24- The minister in the office of the Prime Minister and member of the Supreme Council of the United National Organization of the United Malays (UMNO), Dato Seri Shahidan bin Kassim received the Cuban Ambassador in Malaysia Ibete Fernández Hernandez.

From March 19th to march 23rd, 2018, Havana will host the XVII Edition of the International Convention and Fair Informática 2018, which will be held at the Havana Convention Center and the Pabexpo fairgrounds. The Ministry of Communications and the Information Technology Union of Cuba invite you to the scientific technological discussion and to the exhibition of projects and initiatives of the main themes convened in each of the events that are part of the Convention and the Fair.

In her opening words, Alvarez Núñez underlined the values of the Cuban cuisine which are related to the mixture of cultures that shape the Cuban identity: indienous people from Cuba and Yucatan, Spain, Africa and Asia. The Food Festival marks the beginning of the celebrations for the 60th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution, which will take place all year-long.

On January 22-23, 2018, the eighth technical exchange between representatives of Cuba’s Border Guard Troops and the U.S. Coast Guard Service was held in Florida, United States, with the objective of exchanging on ways to increase bilateral cooperation in the combat against irregular emigration and drug trafficking, and in search and rescue operations.

The meeting took place in an ambiance of respect and professionalism.
