New York, 4 Octubre 2016. At the Third Committee debate on social development, the Deputy Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations, Ambassador Ana Silvia Rodríguez Abascal considered the eradication of poverty, the promotion of full employment and social integration as three pillars to achieve social development and insisted upon the necessity to implement lasting and inclusive public policies that encourage the various aspects of social development, considering the major role played by the States in this matter, with the involvement of others.

Leader of the NDP ratifies friendship with Cuba and with the Cuban women

The Ambassador of Cuba to Ghana, Pedro Luis Despaigne González was received at the headquarters of the National Democratic Party (NDP) by its President, founder and presidential candidate, Dr. Mrs. Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.

During the meeting, the parties addressed issues related to the historical ties between Cuba and Ghana, and ratified the friendship between the “31 December Movement” and the Federation of Cuban Females.

Liberians Newspapers The New Dawn and Daily Observer echoed Cuba's struggle against the blockade.

In its editions of September 30 and October 3, Liberians daily The New Dawn and Daily Observer respectively, devoted a section of its pages to Cuba and its struggle against the blockade. Both publications socialized information transferred in a recent press conference by the Charge d'Affaires of Cuba in Liberia, Yordenis Despaigne Vera, on economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed for more than fifty years unilaterally by the government of the United States against Cuba.

Premiere of Cuban films in Barbados as part of the 40th Anniversary of the terrorist attack.

As part of the activities commemorating the 40th anniversary of the bombing of the Cubana airliner off the coast of Barbados in October 1976, the social organizations of Barbados in coordination with the Embassy of Cuba, especially invited two members of the Cuban delegation to do the Premiere of two important pieces of Cuban cinema.

Opposition Leader receives delegations from Cuba and the Caribbean attending the program for the 40th Anniversary of the Barbados Crime´s commemoration.

The Honourable Mia Mottley, President of the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) and Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, received at its headquarters to international delegations attending the program activities commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the Crime of Barbados. Cuba-Netherlands Platform Demands the End of the U.S. Blockade against Cuba.

Amsterdam, October 4, 2016. Officials of the Diplomatic mission of Cuba to the Kingdom of the Netherlands exchanged with the directives of the solidarity organization Cuba-Netherlands Platform, occasion on which they demanded one more time the end of the blockade that the government of the United States keeps against the Island.

The People's Progressive Party (PPP) joins with the rest of the international community in calling on the United States Government to bring an end to the economic and trade embargo against Cuba. This embargo has severely affected the economic and social development of the country which for several decades has been unable to realize it growth potential as a consequence of the embargo.

 

Iran wants to resume the historic collaboration with Cuba in the sports field

Ambassador Vladimir González Quesada had an interview with Dr. Ahmad Nategh Noori, president of the Iran Boxing Federation (IBF) interested in resuming the historic collaboration with Cuba in this sports discipline. The meeting was also attended by Ruhollah Husseini and Ali Daneshmanfar, vice president and secretary of the federation, respectively.
