Foreign Ministry representatives of both countries meet to discuss issues of common interest for the next chairmanship of the Association of Caribbean States (AEC) which will be occupied by Cuba in the period 2016-2017. To this end, the Director of the Caricom-Caribbean Unit, Rodney Taylor, Ambassador of Barbados to Caricom, Robert Morris, and the official Mandisa Downes, received the Cuban Ambassador Francisco Fernández Peña.

THE BAHAMAS, December 22th, 2015. - Today the Ambassador of Cuba to The Bahamas, Ismara M. Vargas Walter, visited several public hospitals in Freeport, the second most important island of the Bahamian Archipelago.

Just a day after signing the collaboration agreement on health between Cuba and The Bahamas, the Ambassador exchanged views with managers and medical staff of Rand Memorial Hospital as well as other public clinics which will welcome the Cuban medical brigade in a few weeks.

THE BAHAMAS, December 21th, 2015.- Cuba and The Bahamas reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen bilateral relations by signing a collaboration agreement on health. Dr. Herbert H. Brown, Director of the Public Hospitals Authority and Dr. Julio Castañer, Vice President of Business and Marketing for Cuban Medical Services signed the agreement which will allow the arrival of a Cuban medical brigade.

UNFPA proposes to Cuba triangular cooperation with the Eastern Caribbean

In a meeting with Mrs. De-Jane Gibbons, Assistant Representative of the Agency of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) for the Caribbean, Cuban Ambassador to Barbados, Francisco Fernandez, expressed approval of his government to evaluate various triangular cooperation projects for the benefit of other Eastern Caribbean nations in the areas of sexual and reproductive health, early pregnancy and related, for which Cuba would bring their experiences and experts in the coming year 2016.

Barbadians professionals graduated in Cuba exchanged experiences.

In a very fraternal atmosphere of the holidays and greeting the new year, a group of Barbadian professionals graduates from different specialties in Cuba gathered at the Cuban Embassy, many with their families were given, to share and exchange their professional experiences and personal. Among anecdotes, jokes, Caribbean music they spent an enjoyable entertainment for everyone, which did not lack the contribution of the culinary culture of both countries and in particular the tasting of roasted pork in its traditional Cuban style.

Wellington, December 15, 2015 - At a meeting held in this capital with Ambassador of Cuba, Mario Alzugaray, Attorney General and Cabinet minister, Chritopher Finlayson, expressed his satisfaction with the progress in relations between New Zealand and the Caribbean country, restating the interest of his country to continue promoting bilateral ties. During the meeting, they exchanged information related to the process of updating the Cuban model and New Zealand´s will to offer useful details of its development path. The Attorney General also praised the Cuban Health System.

THE BAHAMAS, December 11th, 2015. - Yesterday, the Cuban Ambassador to the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, Ismara Walter M. Vargas, held a meeting with the Bahamian High Commissioner to the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Mr. Picewell A. Forbes, also a member of Parliament.

During the meeting, both parties discussed various topics of interest as well as the immediate objectives of work within this framework. Likewise, High Commissioner Forbes highlighted the closed ties between Cuba and CARICOM, and the role of The Bahamas in the aforementioned regional organization.
