Cuban Ambassador payed a courtesy call to CARICOM´s Representative

Ambassador Gail Mathurin, Director General Office of Trade Negotiations of CARICOM, resident in Barbados, gave an interview courtesy the Cuban Ambassador, Francisco Fernandez, serving to exchange on the good state of bilateral relations of the island with the Community. They reviewed the existing Agreement on Trade and Cooperation, which was updated in recent months allowing free access to the Cuban market of 297 products, from the request of member countries of the block.

Solidarity with Palestine in Barbados.

On the 68th Anniversary of the partition of Palestine by the United Nations, the "Caribbean against Apartheid in Palestine" [CAAP] group held a public meeting and showed a film at the Venezuelan Cultural Institute in Hastings, Barbados. In this activity, chaired by Peter Ashan, President of the CAAP, activists urged Barbados to follow the example of most member nations of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and recognize the State of Palestine. Among the attendees were the ambassadors of Cuba and Venezuela accredited in the country.

Cuban scientist in Wellington presents advances on the research to achieve a new vaccine

Wellington 20 November- In the framework of the 2015 Student and Postdoc Symposium organized by the MacDiarmid Institute for Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology of the University of Victoria, Majela Gonzalez Miro, young scientist of the Finlay Institute, who is part of a collaborative project between this Cuban entity and the Polybatics Company presented on the progress of her investigation. The prestigious Massey University, located in the city of Palmerston North, New Zealand, serves as headquarters for this project.

Friends of Cuba in Wellington reiterate their condemnation of the blockade

Wellington, 17 November - Gathered to welcome the Ambassador of Cuba, the friendship society with the largest of the Antilles in Wellington, reiterated its condemnation of the blockade and reaffirmed the willingness of this group to maintain its contribution to the international fight for its total elimination. Pat Bolster and Gillian Magee, Chairman and Secretary of the organization respectively, confirmed that this fight will remain at the center of its solidarity work.

A week of academic exchanges between the University of Havana and the University of West Indies (UWI).

Port of Spain, 9 November, 2015.- From 2nd to 7th of November, hosted by the Office of the Principal of the University of the West Indies and the Institute of International Relations at the university, a group of Cuban professors and researchers visited Trinidad and Tobago academic exchanges related to Cuba. The delegation was headed by Antonio Romero, president of the Chair of "Norman Girvan" Caribbean Studies at the University of Havana.

Pérez, Senior Lecturer at the Centre for the Study of the Cuban Economy, UH and Santiago Pérez Benítez, Researcher at the Research Centre for International Policy, UH.

The Association of Cuban Residents "Martyrs of Barbados", concluding his National Meeting 2015 in the city of City of Bridgetown, Barbados, on the 8th day of November, accompanied by by representatives of the different organizations members of the Movement of Solidarity  Barbados-Cuba and Barbadian professional graduates in Cuba, declare:

Barbadian companies attended to the International Trade Fair of Havana.

Five Barbadian companies and two entities resident in Barbados were represented at the 33rd edition of the International Trade Fair of Havana (FIHAV-2015), which this time was attended by 71 countries and 50 chambers of commerce and institutions promoting trade and investment in Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe, Canada, Asia, Africa, and for the first time, the United States of America.
