ANC Statement on the stepping down of President Raul Castro as the President of Cuba’s Communist Party

Pretoria, April 29, 2021.- The African National Congress wishes to congratulate Cuba’s Communist Party, the people of Cuba and Former President Raul Castro for stepping down as the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba after seamlessly succeeding Cuba’s revolutionary President, Fidel Castro. He is heralded as a pragmatist who was reluctantly put in the spotlight when his brother relinquished power due to illness.

Cuba congratulates sister South Africa on Freedom Day

Pretoria, April 27, 2021.- Today South Africa commemorates the 27th anniversary of the first non-racial elections in the country and with it, the consolidation of the end of Apartheid.

Following the April 27, 1994 elections, Nelson Mandela, an iconic anti-Apartheid fighter who had spent 27 years in prison for fighting the shameful regime, became the country's first black president, with overwhelming support from the South African people.

Cuba and South Africa exchange on cooperation in governance and infrastructure

Pretoria, April 26, 2021.- The Cuban Ambassador to South Africa, Rodolfo Benítez Verson, held a fruitful exchange with the South African Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA), Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma and other directors of that Ministry, in the interest of continuing to expand cooperation between COGTA and the Ministry of Construction of Cub.

Ceremony to welcome the Cuban experts to the South African Water Sector

Pretoria, April 22, 2021.- Representatives of the Department of Water and Sanitation of the Republic of South Africa (DWS) and the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources of the Republic of Cuba (INRH) met virtually today, as part of the formal ceremony to welcome the Cuban Experts to the South African Water sector.

The meeting was Co-chaired by Hon. Lindiwe Sisulu, Minister of Human Settlements, Water and Sanitation of South Africa and Cde. Antonio Rodríguez Rodríguez, President of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources of Cuba.
