South African Foreign Minister supports Henry Reeve Cuban Medical Contingent nomination for Nobel Peace Prize

The Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa, Dr. Naledi Pandor, intervened in the special debate of the National Parliament on the Cuban medical presence in the country, on which occasion she presented the forceful arguments taken into account by the South African government when taking the decision to formally nominate the “Henry Reeve” Medical Contingent for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Cuba and South Africa advance bilateral cooperation on science, technology and innovation.

Pretoria march 4, 2021.- Through videoconference, a fruitful working meeting was held today between executives and specialists from Cuba and South Africa, with a view to expanding and diversifying bilateral cooperation in the fields of science, technology and innovation.

The Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, the Biocubafarma Group, the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB) and the Cuban Embassy in South Africa were the Cuban institutions represented.

Time to end the US blockade of Cuba

The winds of change are potentially blowing in Cuba’s direction, and an end to the US blockade of 59 years has never been more urgent.

Cuba is facing a devastating food crisis with people lining up for hours and sometimes days for basic commodities that are unaffordable and sometimes impossible to find.

The country has been facing one of the worst food shortages in 25 years, with severe shortages of cooking oil, rice, chicken, corn, beans, fruit toothpaste, personal hygiene products, medicine, fuel, fertilizer and raw materials.

President of South Africa proposes the Nobel Peace Prize to Cuban medical brigade

Pretoria, February 2nd, 2021.- The president of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, highlighted on Tuesday the selfless and unwavering help of the government and the people of Cuba to his country, by proposing the Nobel for his medical brigade.
When addressing the nation in a televised address on the adjustment of measures to prevent and combat COVID-19, the South African president made a section especially dedicated to the Cuban contribution in this area.
