The Canadian Union of Public Employees stands in solidarity with the Cuban people

July 2, 2026. - Cuba’s ambassador to Canada, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, held a meeting with Mark Hancock, president of the Canadian Union of Public Employees. 

During the meeting, they discussed the effects of the U.S. embargo against Cuba, particularly the new executive orders issued by the U.S. administration that intensify the collective punishment to which the U.S. has subjected the Cuban people.

Cuban Ambassador in Ottawa highlights the extraterritorial impact of U.S. sanctions

On June 30, Ambassador Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz denounced the tightening of the U.S. economic blockade against Cuba and the recent measures adopted by Washington, which, he said, are intended to deepen the humanitarian crisis on the island and further isolate it internationally. At the same time, he reiterated Cuba's willingness to engage in dialogue with the United States, provided it is conducted on the basis of equality and with full respect for Cuba's sovereignty.

Cuba participates in the official launch of the Caribbean Canadian Investment Summit and Trade Forum

Friends of Cuba in Montreal call for the lifting of the U.S. economic blockade against the Island

Members of the Quebec-Cuba Solidarity Roundtable and Cuban residents in Montreal called this Sunday for the lifting of the economic, financial, and commercial blockade imposed by the United States more than six decades ago.

The demonstrators gathered peacefully, as they do on the last Sunday of every month, in front of the U.S. Consulate in Montreal, carrying Cuban flags and signs expressing support for the Caribbean nation.

They also demanded an end to Washington’s escalating aggression and forcefully declared: “No to war against Cuba!”
