Cuba: an evening of solidarity in the face of the blockade

On May 2, in Montreal, a fundraising evening organized by the Cuba Por Siempre collective brought together around one hundred people who came to express their solidarity with the Cuban people. Music, food, speeches, and fundraising were all part of this initiative, born in a context of humanitarian emergency marked by shortages and power outages affecting the Island for several months.

In his remarks, Boulerice emphasized that this initiative responds to U.S. aggressions and threats in the Caribbean region, urging the Government of Canada to condemn them as violations of International Law.

Cuban Association in Toronto condemns new U.S. measures against Cuba and calls for an end to the blockade

Toronto, May 3, 2026 — The Association of Cuban Residents in Toronto “Juan Gualberto Gómez” strongly condemned the recent executive order issued by the United States government, describing it as a new act of aggression against the Cuban people and their families.

In an official statement, the organization denounced that the measure intensifies the economic, financial, and commercial siege against Cuba, while introducing punitive provisions targeting individuals and entities, both U.S. and foreign, that collaborate with the Caribbean country.

Support in Toronto for just causes

The Consulate General of Cuba in Toronto participated in the May Day celebration organized by the Socialist Action movement.

At the gathering, the work of the labor movement around the world in favor of improved labor and social conditions was recognized, as well as the need for peace worldwide, and the solidarity of the Cuban people was acknowledged.

During the speeches, the cruel blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba, the war in Iran, and the genocide against the Palestinian people were condemned.

Embassy of Cuba in Canada participates in celebrations for Spanish Language Day

Ottawa, April 23, 2026.– The Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Canada took part in various activities marking the celebration of Spanish Language Day, reaffirming its commitment to promoting the Spanish language and Hispanic culture within Canada’s multicultural context.

In this framework, the Ambassador of Cuba, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, attended the event “Through the Senses,” organized by the Global Centre for Pluralism, a space that fostered cultural and linguistic exchange from an inclusive perspective, highlighting the richness and diversity of Spanish-speaking communities.

Cuban Ambassador to Canada Meets with Secretary of State for International Development

April 23, 2026 - The Ambassador of Cuba to Canada, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, held a meeting with the Honourable Randeep Sarai, Secretary of State for International Development.

In this context, the Cuban diplomat provided an update on the impact of the tightening of the United States blockade on the Cuban people, particularly the energy siege imposed since January 29. He also expressed gratitude to the Government of Canada for the two humanitarian aid packages approved in recent weeks and commented on other cooperation projects being successfully carried out with Canada.

Day of Action for Cuba in Canada

This Sunday, April 19, a donation drive was held in Ottawa as part of the Day of Action for Cuba, an initiative that took place simultaneously in several cities across Canada.

During the activity, a significant amount of supplies was collected for the Cuban people. The event saw the active participation of members of the solidarity movement with Cuba, Cuban residents, and the support of members of the Embassy of Cuba in Canada.
