Free, universal and quality medical care for all the people has been one of the main conquests and priorities of the Cuban Revolution. In spite of this, the economic, commercial and financial blockade is increasingly affecting the health sector, seriously threatening the quality of life and well-being of the Cuban people.

Permanent Representative of Cuba elected as vice president of the United Nations Committee for the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People.

The Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations was elected vice president of the UN Committee for the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People. “We receive this responsibility as a commitment to continue fighting through our work in the Committee and in the United Nations in favor of a genuine peace process in that region of the world. 

Cuba appeals for a comprehensive reform of the Security Council that makes it a transparent, democratic and representative body.

Ambassador Yuri A. Gala López addressed the plenary meeting of the United Nations General Assembly for the presentation of the annual report of the Security Council. Stated that the Security Council must stop expanding the scope of the definition of international peace and security, to the detriment of the functions and responsibilities of the General Assembly.
