Cuba participates in the debate on the use of the veto at the United Nations General Assembly

During the General Assembly debate on agenda item 63, entitled Use of the Veto”, the Permanent Representative of Cuba, Ambassador Ernesto Soberón Guzmán, reiterated that the issue of the veto should not be analyzed separately from the rest of the issues under the mandate of the IGN. In this regard, he added that "the five key issues identified for the Security Council reform, which include the question of the veto, are closely related".

 During the General Assembly debate on Agenda item 122, entitled: “Question of equitable representation on and increase in the membership of the Security Council and other matters related to the Security Council”, the Cuban Permanent Representative, Ambassador Ernesto Soberón Guzmán, reiterated Cuba's support for a comprehensive reform of the UN Security Council, including its working methods, to make it a truly transparent, democratic and representative body.
