The Helms-Burton Act: codification of the blockade and strengthening of its extraterritorial effect
New York, 24 November 2020. The main example of the application and strengthening of the US blockade against Cuba has been the decision of the US Department of State, on 17 April 2019, to allow legal actions under Title III of the Act known as Helms-Burton, which came into force in 1996, under the name of the Cuban Liberty and Democratic Solidarity Act (Libertad Act).
New Ambassadors present Copies of Credentials that accredit them as ambassadors to the Cuban government
New York, 17 November 2020. H.E. Mr. Jörundur Valtýsson, H.E. Mr. Viliami Va'inga Tōnē and H.E. Mr. Sidi Mohamed Laghdaf, Permanent Representatives to the United Nations of Iceland, the Kingdom of Tonga, and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania respectively, presented today to Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, the copies of credentials as ambassadors of their respective countries appointed to the government of the Republic of Cuba, with residence in New York.
G77 stands against the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed by the US on Cuba
New York, 12 November 2020. The Ministerial Declaration of the 44th Meeting of Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the Group of 77 (G77) was approved today. An entire section of this document, focused on reaffirming that the imposition of coercive measures on developing countries does not contribute to the economic and social development of their peoples and is not tools that favor dialogue and understanding among peoples.
