The Cuban ambassador to Cyprus attends a reception marking Georgia’s Independence Day.

Nicosia, Cyprus, December 22, 2025. Cuba’s ambassador to Cyprus, Rubén Pino Martínez, attended an event held in the Cypriot capital on Thursday, December 21, to mark Georgia’s Independence Day. At the ceremony, he was welcomed by the chargé d’affaires of the Georgian embassy in Nicosia, Her Excellency Ms. Marine Narchemashvili, and her diplomatic team.

Her Excellency Vasiliki Kassianidou, Cyprus’s Deputy Minister of Culture, delivered a welcome address on behalf of her government to mark Georgia’s National Day, in which she conveyed Cyprus’s official greetings, highlighted the positive bilateral relations between Georgia and the Mediterranean nation, and reiterated the congratulations shared by the representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Nicosia who were present at the event.

Condemn the blockade against Cuba at the “3rd International Conference for Peace and Social Justice in a Period of Multiple Crises” in Nicosia, Cyprus. 

Nicosia, Cyprus, June 17, 2026. — With a message from the Communist Party of Cuba, reiterating “the condemnation and warning about the danger posed to the Latin American and Caribbean region, and particularly to the island, by the aggressive policy of Yankee imperialism, as well as its growing and open threat of a direct military aggression against the island", the call and renewed condemnation of millions of Cubans were heard in Nicosia today, addressing the world. 

As part of the working sessions of the 3rd International Conference “Peace and Social Justice in a Time of Multiple Crises” by the Alexis Tsipras Institute (INAT), in collaboration with the Promitheas Research Institute (INEP), the voice of Cuba was heard this morning in the Cypriot capital through a message delivered by Emilio Lozada García, head of the Department of International Relations of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba.

Presented by Vera Policarpou, head of International Relations and European Policy of the Central Committee of the AKEL Party, during the segment “Evolution of the Situation Worldwide,” Lozada García’s message delved into the precise and direct condemnation of the economic, commercial, financial, and energy blockade imposed by the United States government; the same government “that in an arbitrary and politically manipulated way, has defined our country as an unusual and extraordinary threat to its national security,' with the threat of a direct military aggression, 'which would constitute a violation of the United Nations Charter, International Law, and the principles that proclaim Latin America and the Caribbean as a zone of peace.'

Members of the United Democratic Youth (EDON) of Cyprus Pay Tribute to Fidel Castro

Nicosia, Cyprus, June 17, 2026. Members of the United Democratic Youth Organization (EDON) of Cyprus held a tribute event this Wednesday in the municipality of Nicosia to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution.

In coordination with the Cuban Embassy in Nicosia, the young people organized this tribute event, titled “100 Years Since Fidel’s Birth: Challenges Facing Cuba Today,” during which they engaged in extensive discussions with Cuban Ambassador Rubén Pino Martínez at a youth center in the heart of the Cypriot capital.

The Cuban diplomat thanked the EDON youth for the opportunity to join countless similar tributes taking place this year in various corners of the globe, and for being able to share with those present unforgettable testimonies and audiovisual materials produced by the Fidel Castro Center in Havana, which enrich the knowledge and historical memory of this noble Cypriot generation.

Deputy Minister of Maritime Transport Receives Cuban Ambassador in Cyprus. 

Nicosia, Cyprus, June 15, 2026. - The Deputy Minister of Maritime Transport for the Presidency of the Republic of Cyprus, Ms Marina Hadjimanolis, received the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Cyprus, Rubén Pino Martínez, this Monday during a courtesy visit to the headquarters of the aforementioned deputy ministry, located in the port city of Limassol. 

During the meeting, the deputy minister welcomed the Cuban diplomat and warmly thanked him for his visit; he was accompanied by part of his closest team: Dr Theodoulus Mesimeris, acting permanent secretary of the mentioned deputy ministry; Mr Adonis Pavlides, director of the office and senior maritime inspector of the Policy, Coordination, and Strategic Planning Unit; and Ms Despina Pirikki, administrative officer of the deputy ministry. 

With them, Pino Martínez had a fruitful exchange, in which some options and opportunities to develop a bilateral collaboration were outlined, based on the agreement signed and in force between both governments regarding maritime transport. In this regard, the Cuban diplomat elaborated on contacts already established in mid-April between executives of Cuban entities related to the general director of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber, Mr Alexandros Josephides, and Mr Sofoklis Chrysostomou, maritime manager and member of the board of the mentioned institution, both representing Cypriot shipping companies and others in the Eastern Mediterranean sector.

Cuban ambassador in Cyprus conveys congratulations, solidarity, and gratitude to his counterpart from the Russian Federation on the occasion of their National Day celebration. 

Nicosia, Cyprus, June 12, 2026. The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Cyprus, Rubén Pino Martínez, attended on Thursday, June 11, the reception offered by H.E. Dr Murat Ziazikov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation in this capital, on the occasion of Russia's National Day, celebrated this June 12. 

At the official ceremony, H.E. Dr Murat Ziazikov highlighted the transcendental importance of the celebration and the unquestionable value that this date holds, since the proclamation of their national sovereignty and the recognition of the struggles of that nation in favor of peace, well-being, and the development of its citizens. The reception took place in the presence of a sizeable representation of the attending diplomatic corps, along with Cypriot friends and members of the Russian community residing on the Mediterranean island.

The Cuban diplomat extended his warm congratulations to the Russian ambassador, to his people, and to the government of the Russian nation on the date that marked the beginning of a new stage toward the building of a modern federation, continuing the millennial course undertaken by that great Eurasian nation.
