Statement from the Rødt Party of Norway condemning the US blockade and the inclusion of Cuba on the List of State Sponsors of Terrorism

Rødt strongly condemns the terrorist label and the illegal blockade of the United States against Cuba.

An overwhelming majority of UN member states voted in favor of the UN resolution asking for the lifting of the illegal US blockade against Cuba. 187 countries voted in favor, including Norway. The United States and Israel were the only countries to vote against the resolution.

The Cuban ambassador takes part in a reception organized by the Section for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Oslo, December 20, 2023. The Ambassador of Cuba, Maité Rivero Torres, attended a Christmas reception organized by the Section for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).

Anne Heidi Kvalsøren, director of the Section, and her team shared a nice time with the GRULAC Heads of Mission and their deputies. Representatives from other divisions of the MFA, as well as from other Norwegian entities were also present.

It was an excellent opportunity to exchange on the most important events in 2023 and the main lines of action for 2024.

Official Gazette of the Republic: Resolution 19/2023 of the Ministry of the Interior with a list of persons and entities subject to criminal investigations and who are wanted by Cuban authorities

Cuba published a list of persons and entities subject to criminal investigations, who are wanted by Cuban authorities due to their involvement in acts carried out on the island and in other countries.

The list, published in the official Gazette of the Republic by means of Resolution 19/2023 of the Ministry of the Interior, includes those responsible for terrorist acts against the Caribbean country from 1999 to date.

Representatives of the Cuban trade union movement visit the Norwegian Parliament (Storting)

Oslo, December 11, 2023. Trine Lise Sundnes, member of the Norwegian Parliament for the Labor Party and member of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defense, received Niurqui Sosa de los Reyes and Yinet Peña Batista, who are in Norway as representatives of the National Union of Public Administration Workers of Cuba (SNTAP).

In a cordial meeting, in which the ambassador of Cuba to Norway, Maité Rivero Torres, was also present, the trade unionists offered updated information about Cuba, the trade union movement and the existing cooperation between SNTAP and Fagforbundet.

Visit to Norway by Cuban trade unionists

Oslo, December 9, 2023. These days, a delegation from the National Union of Public Administration Workers of Cuba (SNTAP) is visiting Norway, invited by the Norwegian Union of Municipal and General Employees (Fagforbundet).
