The International Session of the 11th National Conference of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), held on May 14 in the city of Calcutta, was inaugurated with the reading of the draft resolution in solidarity with Cuba and condemnation of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the government of the United States on the Cuban people.
A Business Forum between Cuba and India took place last Monday at the institutional headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba, headed by its president, Antonio Luis Carricarte; and Dr. Asif Iqbal, president of the Economic Trade Organization of the South Asian nation (IETO).
The National Committee of Solidarity with Cuba in India issued a letter addressed to the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) expressing its extreme sorrow for the tragic accident that occurred last May 6 at the Saratoga Hotel and regretting the fatalities in this unfortunate event, while wishing a speedy recovery to all the injured.
The Cuban Ambassador to India, Alejandro Simancas Marin, participated in the International Conference on Environmental Diversity and its Jurisprudence, a National and International Perspective". The Conference, held at the Institute of Legal Studies of the University of Chandigarh, was also attended by the Vice President of India, Venkaiah Naidu, and the Governor of the State of Punjab, Banwarilal Purohit.
The Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in India opened a book of condolences between May 6 and 10 to pay posthumous tribute to Ricardo Alarcón de Quesada, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and President of the National Assembly of People's Power.
