The Day of Cuban National Culture was celebrated in Jakarta

Jakarta, October 20, 2018. The Embassy of Cuba celebrated today the National Culture Day coinciding with the closing of the Jakarta Cuban Cinema Exhibition 2018, Cuban Revolution: 60 years of action without cut! that took place during the last 5 days in this capital, in collaboration with the cultural organization [ESAS] Empu Sendok Arts Station. Present at the ceremony were members of the Diplomatic Corps, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, friends of the Embassy and representatives of the press that covered the celebration.

With the screening of the feature film "El Benny" concluded today the celebration of the Cuban Film Exibition Jakarta 2018, Cuban Revolution: 60 years of action without cut! organized by the Embassy of the Island in greeting to the National Culture Day and the 60th Anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, in cooperation with the cultural organization [ESAS] Empu Sendok Arts Station.

On October 20, 1968, the Cuban National Anthem was written, and sung for the first time, during the festivities for the capture of the city of Bayamo by the Cuban independence troops. With a marked patriotic character, La Bayamesa, the name with which the song was known, is a call to the fight for the independence and sovereignty of the country. Since then, the National Anthem is an expression of the most deeply rooted pro-independence and patriotic values of the Cuban people, as well as the most genuine sense of nation and Cuban roots.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba rejects in the strongest way the defamatory campaign against Cuba on human rights, launched on October 16, by the United States government at the headquarters of the United Nations.

As already warned, this action is part of the sequence of declarations against our country made in recent weeks by high-level officials of the United States government, which show growing hostility towards Cuba and the Cuban Revolution.
