16 de abril de 2024.- During his visit to Palmerston North, Cuban Ambassador Luis Ernesto Morejón Rodríguez met with Grant Smith, Mayor of Palmerston North, where they ratified their mutual willingness to contribute to strengthening bilateral ties.
The occasion was an opportunity to visit and hold exchanges with the directors of the Manawatu Multicultural Center, the Fonterra Research and Development Center, the Riddet Institute, and Massey University.
Ambassador, Luis Ernesto Morejón Rodríguez, paid a courtesy call to the Speaker of the Parliament of New Zealand, the Honorable Gerry Brownlee.
Despite the distance, relations between our countries are of long standing and are marked by a deep commitment to peace, justice, international security, among other pillars of sustainable development.
On February 7, our countries celebrated the twenty-fifth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Mayor of the city, Grant Smith, welcomed all the diplomatic corps and during his speech he invited us to get to know and learn about the history, traditions, and cultural wealth of people all around the world who took part in this event.
On behalf of the City Council, Mayor Smith thanked the engraving of "Morro de la Cabaña" by the Cuban plastic artist Yosvany Martínez as a gift from the Cuban Ambassador.
