Cuban ambassador speaks for the Fair Go program.

Wellington, December 14. Journalist Kaitlin Aldridge interviewed ambassador Edgardo Valdés for an upcoming edition of TVNZ's Fair Go program.

The topic of the interview was the impact of the United States blockade against Cuba on New Zealand citizens and companies.

In the conversation it became clear that, despite the New Zealand government's opposition to this policy, Washington's measures have an extraterritorial scope and are applied rigorously, affecting citizens and interests of sovereign countries.

Cuban ambassador attends reception offered by the Foreign Minister.

Wellington, December 11. Ambassador Edgardo Valdés attended the reception offered to the Diplomatic Corps by the Vice Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Right Honorable Winston Peters, at the Parliament headquarters.

On the occasion, the Foreign Minister presented the general lines of the new government in foreign policy and then exchanged with those present.

The Cuban ambassador, who already met Peters during his previous mandate, conveyed Cuba's greetings to him during a brief exchange.

Wellington, December 6. Ambassador Edgardo Valdés attended the official opening ceremony of the 54th Parliament of New Zealand, on which occasion he greeted the Governor General, the new Prime Minister, and the Speaker.

The Cuban diplomat also spoke with the Vice Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Winston Peters.

The Ambassador reiterated to local authorities Cuba's willingness to strengthen our ties with New Zealand.

During the ceremony, the Governor General read the speech prepared by the Prime Minister, in which he set out his government's priorities.

Governor General Receives Ambassador of Cuba.

Wellington, November 28. The Governor General of New Zealand, Right Honorable Dame Cindy Kiro, and her husband Doctor Richard Davies, received Ambassador Edgardo Valdés and his wife Dalila Vázquez on a courtesy visit to say goodbye.

At the Government House, they talked about the stay of both diplomats in New Zealand, bilateral relations, and Cuba's education and health systems, among other topics.

The Governor General and her husband were invited to visit Cuba and as part of the gift exchange, they received a photo book of Havana.
