Cuba Responds to Manipulative US Statements at the UN Economic and Social Council

The Cuban delegation to the Humanitarian Affairs Segment of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), which concluded today at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, responded strongly to manipulative and misleading statements by the United States delegation regarding the economic blockade imposed against the island.

We denounce the dishonest campaign of the U.S. government to discredit Cuban medical cooperation, exert pressure on recipient governments and deprive millions of people of essential health services. These petty actions are nothing more than an extension of the aggression and hostility against Cuba.

GROUP OF FRIENDS IN DEFENSE OF THE UN CHARTER DENOUNCES IN HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL UNITED STATES CAMPAIGN AGAINST CUBAN MEDICAL COOPERATION

The Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations issued a statement today at the UN Human Rights Council, expressing deep gratitude and appreciation to Cuban health professionals for the high quality health care provided to millions of people around the world.

The 18 member countries of the Group denounced the dishonest campaign of the United States government to discredit Cuban medical cooperation and exert pressure on recipient governments, mostly developing countries.

In Cuban schools and educational institutions, a comprehensive and intersectoral training system is being developed on gender equality and violence, sexual and reproductive rights, confronting discrimination in all its forms and manifestations, zero tolerance to drug trafficking and consumption, civic education, reporting cases of violence, abuse or bullying, among other aspects.
