Cuba appeals for a comprehensive reform of the Security Council that makes it a transparent, democratic and representative body.

Ambassador Yuri A. Gala López addressed the plenary meeting of the United Nations General Assembly for the presentation of the annual report of the Security Council. Stated that the Security Council must stop expanding the scope of the definition of international peace and security, to the detriment of the functions and responsibilities of the General Assembly.

United Nations Special Committee on Decolonization adopts resolution on the Question of Puerto Rico.

The Special Committee on Decolonization of United Nations adopted a resolution, promoted by Cuba, on the Question of Puerto Rico, reiterating that “Puerto Rico constitutes a Latin American and Caribbean nation, with its own and unmistakable national identity, which Puerto Ricans have been able to defend despite the long colonization process to which they have been subjected.”

Statement from Cuba Sí NY/NJ Coalition: Cuba off the SST list Now! Stop the bipartisan Washington economic war on Cuba!

It is willfully hypocritical for the US government to take Cuba off the one list while it continues to designate Cuba as a state sponsor terrorism on the other. The US government has no moral or legal standing to put Cuba on its bogus SSOT list when Cuba has been the recipient for decades of direct and indirect terror attacks from US-based and often trained terrorists.

Address by Elio Rodríguez Perdomo, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, at the plenary meeting of the UN General Assembly on the elimination of unilateral extraterritorial coercive measures.

Cuba strongly rejects the implementation of unilateral coercive measures, in violation of the Charter of the United Nations and international law. Such measures are particularly detrimental in the current conditions of an international economy in crisis increasingly interconnected, interdependent and under the dictates of the financial centers of power.
