The United States takes steps in the right direction, but the blockade remains in force. Declaration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba

On January 14, 2025, the government of the United States announced the following decisions:

1. Remove Cuba from the State Department list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism;

2. Make use of the presidential faculty to prevent US courts from taking action with regards to lawsuits that might be filed by virtue of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act; and

Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore interested in strengthening its cooperation with Cuba.

 

Singapore, January 15, 2025. The Ambassador of Cuba in Singapore, Lisbet Quesada Luna, welcomes the director of the International Division of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, Mrs. TAN Woei Tyng.

They exchanged about the current cooperation between Maritime Authorities, as well as the willingness to strengthen the existing ties between both countries in the aforementioned sector.

Both parties discussed the existing collaboration at the multilateral level, as well as the willingness to consolidate and work for its diversification.

Cuba in 2024: resistance and the path to economic recovery

The Caribbean island maintains a strong political and governmental stance focused on overcoming economic difficulties, as well as resuming the path of growth and development.

In order to exploit its potential at full capacity, the implementation of the Government’s projections to correct distortions and boost the economy continued, a strategy to face the challenges arising from an external economic war and an exacerbated global financial crisis.

Ambassador of Cuba participates in the Annual Christmas Concert for the Diplomatic Corps with the Chancellor as Guest of Honor.

Ambassador Lisbet Quesada Luna participated along with other Ambassadors, High Commissioners and members of the diplomatic corps in Singapore, in the Annual Christmas Concert at the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd, where through classic Christmas carols from almost all the countries represented, a called for Peace.

The activity co-organized by the Choir director, Sir Peter Low, and by Archbishop Marek Zalewski, the apostolic nuncio and ambassador of the Catholic Church in Singapore, had the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vivian Balakrishnan, as Guest of Honor.
