Cuban Son practice has been declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity
Singapore, December 31, 2025. The practice of the Cuban Son was included on December 10th in the representative list of UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, a recognition of this expression of the culture and identity of the Cuban people.
With this decision, notified at the 20th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of UNESCO's Intangible Heritage, in New Delhi, the commitment of the Cuban Government to the protection of the traditions that represent the roots of the Caribbean nation is also highlighted.
