Minister Grant Robertsons hosts meeting with Latin American ambassadors

On August 16th Minister for Finance Grant Robertson hosted Latin American Ambassadors at his office in the Beehive. During the meeting the diplomats had the chance to be briefed on diverse policies from the Labour led government, being an important opportunity to gather information on issues of interest for their respective nations. It´s important to say that in many ways, New Zealand is an important reference for Latin America and both sides are looking on ways to increase ties.

Cuba grants Scholarships to Saint Lucia

Castries, August 13, 2018. According to the Scholarship Plan of Cuba approved for 2018, the Embassy of Cuba in Saint Lucia concluded the process of granting a total of thirteen (13) Scholarships to Saint Lucia in the specialties of Medicine, Dentistry and Post-Graduate Medical Scholarships. The selected Saint Lucian students signed the commitment to the Code of Ethics to be observed in the Cuban Higher Education Centers and received their Scholarship Files.

Solidarity Brigade Praises Cuban Courage and Condemns US Blockade

(Prensa Latina) Dominican activist Pablo Castillo lauded today the courage of Cubans for the projection and defense of a more just society, despite the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba by the United States. 

The member of the 25th Latin American and Caribbean Brigade of Solidarity with Cuba told Prensa Latina that 'the Cubans, constantly besieged by U.S. imperialism, reflect the courage and perseverance of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro' and the heroes who fought for the independence of the nation.

The Embassy of Cuba made the farewell of 9 Guyanese students who were granted scholarships to study medicine on the island.

Georgetown, on August 15, 2018. At the Embassy of Cuba, a farewell ceremony was held today for 8 Guyanese students who travel to the largest of the Antilles to begin their studies in Medicine. On the Guyanese side, Reginald Brotherson, Permanent Secretary of the Department of Public Services and Ms. Soyinka Grogan, official of the Ministry of Education of Guyana, participated.
